How much I'll be saving with QR 4,000.00 basic salary?
By Brian Valdez •
I was offered a job for Ras Lafan, Qatar with a basic salary of QR 4,000.00 accomodation and food provided. would anyone enlighten me how much I can save with that salary?
Hello!
Accomodation is generally a major expense in Qatar, which takes a bigger part of the salary. As you have said, if that is taken care of, and also the food, and considering you do not make a baseless decision of staying in the Doha city, and if you have no other fancies(like partying, drinks etc.),
then...
Sincerely, you should be able to save atleast QR.3000/-
ALL THE BEST!!

If you dont come to Doha you"ll save a lot... just dont waste your time in fancy electronic stuff that you wont be needing...
with a basic of 4th .. you can save half of it if transport is to be provided by your company..
It really all depends on the lifestyle that you plan on living. If you are not going to rent a car and are simply going to live on and make use of the free facilities offered by Ras Laffan, you could save money. Renting a car, however, will run about 1,800 QR a month (just for the rent w/o considering petrol or minor scrapes/dents/accidents you might get into). Mobile phone charges are pretty steep here if you plan on using them to make a lot of international calls/texts. It is possible to use Skype or other such services, but often the sound quality is bad or QTEL, the government-run phone company, will block the download of the necessary software. So, anyway, you could save money, but you wouldn't be living it up in town. As the other person replied, going out in town can be rather costly. Good luck with your decision.
To be honest Ras Laffan is quite far, so its a little pricy coming to doha, even if its for weekends and other than the transportation the expenses for food and other stuff, out of 4000 riyals you would only be able to save up around 300 to 500 maximum. Life is pretty expensive around here.
