house rent increase

Hello Guys,

Can anyone help me find a copy of governing rules regarding house rent increase here in Doha?

Some says it should be 10% maximum, but if a sharing accomodation asked an increase of 25%, do you think it's still legal?

how and where can a complaint regarding this unjust practices be made??

thanks in advance :)

He says sharing rent, sharing is subletting which is illegal.

The owner could kick you all out for this.

one thing in certainty, if a persons' house rent allowance can't suffice to accomodate him/her an exlusive use of a place...then an only option is to open the place for sharing...

i think, by doing that... then one will have to shift a role from rentee into the much displeased landlords.

for the hassles and of sorts, i'd rather avoid getting myself into more troubles. i can easily shift places when opportunity knocks if i'm just sharing.

as what you had said earlier, better look around for better options.

get your own place, rather than sharing, it's about time

well the rent depends on the area where you want to live ... staying in Doha City area is still expensive even you transfer to a newer flat or villa. If you have car, you can get a cheaper rooms outside Doha and just get-up earlier when going to work.

Rents are supposed to be frozen until Feb 2010. Just find a new place. You will likely find better and cheaper. Leave your greed stricken landlord without a tenant. That will wake him up with no income coming in.

If you have a written contract with the owner, and this contract is signed on or after 01/01/2005 then he has NO RIGHT to increase your rent up to 14/02/2010 as per the law.

If the contract is signed before 01/01/2005 then an increase shall occur as per the following table:

-rent amount less than QR 2000>>>20%

-rent amount between 2000-5000>>>15%

-rent amount between 5000-10000>>10%

-rent amount more than 10000>>>>>5%

In addition he can not kick u out UNLESS you did not pay the monthly rent, or if you rent the flat to others, or if he want to use the appartment by him or his family mambers, or if he want to demolish the building and most of the above has to be through court evidence,,, also there is 6 months afetr you got the information in written before evacuation.

No governing rules will work here practically. If the landlord wants to increase the rent he can create any reason to send you out from his property. Now no need to worry about the increse in rent. Rent is coming down drastically. Change the house

i think to go for a complaint you should have a contract otherwise no one will investigate your problem
