Has anyone become a permanent resident in Qatar by buying a property?
Thanks for welcoming me to this group. I left Qatar on 2006 for a job opportunity with KBR in Australia. A year later, it closed its Darwin office. I moved to Arup, who then closed its Darwin office. Now, I am in the middle of the mining industry (West Aus) which was severely affected by the economic crisis. Hence, I have applied for various roles in Qatar anew and hopefully turn permanent resident as well. I read about purchasing a residential property in Qatar merits to permanent residence.
I foresee that this crisis will repeat every 5-7 years. It's wise to have an open door to Qatar who's economy is driven by LNG supply. Last 2005, I had an Indian colleague who bought a permanent visa from a Qatari (his sponsor). He said he just gives him gifts/token every now and then. Then I heard about one 'selling' a PR (maybe a Qatari willing to sponsor) for QAR 6000. I know it worked from my Indian colleague but I think the best way is to buy property to become PR.
