Ex-pat wives and Employment?

Can anyone share with me the employment opportunities available for expat women who are "tag-along" spouses? I would like to work part or full time under my husband's sponsorship to be social and to earn a small salary. Any information or idea/opinion is appreciated. Thank-you!

Call up Edision International Academy, they are teaching young kids English and other subjects which just recently opened. Good chance for you to get a job, try.

Try finding job in kindergartens, i know that some of them does look for someone holding your qualifications.

I think if you're not overly fussy about the specific job you want or the salary, then it should be fairly easy to find a job. Employing a wife under husband's sponsorship is an easy option for companies, as they don't have to go through the hassle of sponsoring you, so this will be in your favour. One idea that springs to mind considering your experience would be a nursery job - as a teacher... I know some nurseries are very flexible in terms of qualifications required. I did nursery teaching for a while and was on 7000 QR a month (working 5 days a week 7am-1pm), which isn't much, but I wasn't too bothered about that. Teaching English is another good option, as mentioned above. You can expect to earn about 100-200 QR an hour for casual teaching hours, or maybe 14,000 - 20,000 QR a month for a full-time job. You've got time to do a TEFL qualification before you come....something to think about.

Thanks to all for responding so quickly thus far! I have a nursing education but no longer hold registration, I have childcare experience and reception experience and a journalism education to back up my love of the English language! Is part-time employment a possibility? Should I have a monthly salary figure in mind? I am Canadian and am scheduled to arrive in February 2013. Any general advice about packing for Doha? Many thanks to all again; your responses help me to feel welcome in a land so far from my own!

I believe you are a Native English Speaker. School Teaching Jobs are always in plenty due to Visa Issues, Maternity leaves etc. There are good schools with both British and American curriculum and schools are always looking for teachers and working duration is also short.

Hope this will help.
