Driving Fine

I went to report a minor accident a few days ago and there I was told that I have a traffic fine. I was surprized as I check for traffic violation every week online and there was nothing there.

Any way, when I went to the counter to pay fine, they told me that I have to go to a different office and they mentioned CID. Unfortunately I do not speak arabic and I was told in arabic about it. What I understand was that I overtook someone from wrong side. I think.

Can someone tell me what to expect here. I am ok to pay fine but what is the business of CID here? If it is traffic fine, how come it is not on the net.

Fine is dated 3 months back as they told me. But it does not show on the web site where you can check for traffic violations.

I will appreciate any comments.

Thank you all for your advice and kind words.

I went to the CID section of traffic police today. Turned out that it was just a minor driving violation. I was fined 500 riyals which I paid and that was it.

Unfortunately, again it was explained to me in Arabic so I could not understand much. I think kevin86 is correct that for some driving violations penalty amount is not fixed and that is why it stays with CID. If serious, the case may go to court. My case was simple so they closed it right there.

My advise to everyone, drive safely. Doha is a small city. By driving fast or dangerously, you may save 5 or 10 minutes so you have to ask yourself, is it really worth it.

It is Simple

Only extra police office

CID only for paying the fine, don't worry about any other things, In Mattar police station it is oppsite to the one of renewing your Istemarah, pay it whitin 1 minute, and come back with the invoice to renew your Istemarah

it is possible that the CID file a case against you. just like what happened to costin when he drove his car in the dessert and do some drifting.

so better go to CID and clarify it for your peace of mind.

I will share what I have heard through a friend who works for Traffic Dept. But I do not know whether it is the same or any other reason in your case.

Any one drives above 200 Kms / Hour is a huge traffic violation and it will not appear as usual traffic violation. The Court will decide how much penalty to be levied etc.

He also told for the first timers, even Court shows mercy and it will be considered as a normal traffic violation. But, it repeats Court may impose QR. 10,000 to QR. 20,000 as traffic violation fees.

All the best my friend..nothing to worry. Hope everything will be fine.

If that is so go to CID to clear the matter...then if its fine then its ok!
