Cost of living in Qatar

Hi There, everyone!
It's Jack (in the States! (Saint Louis, Missouri)...
I'm negotiating a position where they're providing a salary of:
A. 40,000QR per month (exclusive of lodging, trans, air trip (once a year)
B. 40,000QR per month (that may include the above benefits).
My question "to y'all": is 40,000 per month "ok" for living in Qatar, and being able to send some income home to the states?
I do like to travel, and visit those "touristy" places, I'd have to get a car, too.
Is the food expensive there? Not too sure about getting a "roomate" for my apartment (like the privacy). Hey, what about the "nitelife" and shopping there?
Thanks so much for any positive feedback.
Jack (it's 7:10pm Wednesday)
Depends upon your standard of living...
Biggest expense here is the Rent.
If you earn QR 40,000 you may end up paying QR20,000 as rent for a villa. Since many places are being pulled down to build bigger buildings you might have to do with what you get or pay what you are asked....lol
Other than Rent the other expense will be around QR 1,000 per head add more if you are a daily boozer.
Lets not waste time on the same topic... If you want a detail report, use the search option from top menu and you will find all that you wanna know about salary in Qatar.
In short, accept the offer and come donw to Qatar. I am sure you will love it, specially with that salary....
Hey there,
What's going down in St. Louis, MO!
Jack, my friend, I'm lost on the salary figures you stated above. I'm from Calgary, Canada and consider a move to Qatar as well. Now you indicated as follows:
A. 40,000QR per month (exclusive of lodging, trans, air trip (once a year)
B. 40,000QR per month (that may include the above benefits).
What's that all about brother???
Jack, you gotta tell us the following:
1. Single, married, kids??
2. Break it down for us buddy. Tell us exactl what the salary, allowances, etc are going to be.
Then take a look at a thread I posted a few days ago (ahasnain) where I lay out a budget for a family of 4. Folks on this site seem to think it was realistic. If you're single, why dont you just divide my numbers by 2 or 3??
