Cost of Groceries and Phone/Internet/Satellite
Hi all,
I am currently in discussions to come to Qatar and work as a sports instructor/coach for the national sports federation. I have been told my housing, basic utilities, and transportation will be provided.
Here are my questions:
1. What is an average monthly cost for groceries? I would be alone initially until my wife comes over with me.
2. What is the cost for Internet?
3. What is the cost for satellite cable service?
Thank you for your help.
My husband and I are huge LSU fans. I hate to tell you that you get ESPN but it is International. It may depend on what satellite system you have. He is able to get CBS which played some of the games last year. They may air more this year though. If you have any other questions I will forward them to him. I am still in the states, coming later in the year. I am sure he would like to hang out with another Tiger fan. Let me know if you go. Geaux Tigers!!!!
p.s. Also, if all else fails, you can get the games on video on the Geaux Zone. It runs around $100 per year for the subscription.
Thanks everyone. This information is helpful.
I am an American basketball coach. I have heard there is good talent in the country and I will be working with the national teams.
As far as satellite is concerned, as long as I can get ESPN and not only watch college basketball, but also see good ole LSU football, I will be a happy camper!
I think you will be at Aspire and since you will be housed & provided transportation you will not have to worry about much.
If you dont drink too much you should manage monthly by QR2500 (all expenses included). Rest you can send home or save.
If you have children then you could add education cost (but it would be included in your package).
And Basket ball would be one of the games where this country could have good talent.
the figures above are correct but do take into account the ever rising prices in qatar. my grocery bill has increased by three hundred in seven months.
Details on your nationality will allow you fellow countrymen/women to respond better to your tastes
1) depends on where you eat/shop - once you find a local superkarket then your basics are cheap but you may stillneed to do a weekly shop at a larger mall based supermarket.
2) Internet (broadband) / phone line around 330QR/month
3) Depends on what you want i think show time is 300 QR/month for most channels, south African is available but > Qtel package is less but poor quality. Of course there is the dogdy souk satellite thats about 1700 and you never pay anything again..... not that i have that ;-)
For a family of 5 and a nanny, my weekly shopping costs Qar 800 a week, Satellite cost $36 dollars a month, Internet cost Qar 200 plus QAR 35 phone line a month.
Hope it helps
