cost of food

Hi everyone. I am currently considering applying for a teaching position at Doha College. The offer included accommodation and bills. So my only real outgoing money would be buying food. How much os food compared to the UK? How much would an average weekly shop for one person cost? Any help would be great.

the cost of food is 20% up on 2 years ago.....and i for one am not going to pay it..will forego until holidays in uk. veggie until then

the shops seem to think that as there are expates here earning trillions of riyals that they can cheat us at the supermarket.....as we dont pay income tax they tax through the food.....i cant believe no one else has not commented on this.

30 quid for leg of lamb??? even at qdc they charge 80 riyals for a bottle of table plonk...i for one am not buying into this and all hard earned money...(14 hr days and putting up with kamakazee drivers)...will be sent back to blighty

sorry...just having a moan

I would say less than London, especially for restaurant meals and vegetables.

About the same as UK. Qatar produces very little by way of food so 95% is improted. A few local veg and dairy products only

Did you Google it first?
