Commodities expensive than market value

Commodities expensive than market value in Qatar. Housing is still ok, as development is on. But other commodities like eating out in restaurants, prices of cars, electronics are expensive beyond the most expensive places on earth.

A Hyundai Santa Fe, basic option, which costs 82K in UAE costs 125000K here.
Similarly all Honda, Toyota cars are selling voraciously 40% more the cost, thus applying cost which will be higher than levying 30% taxes or duty.

Parts of computers are expensive too. A same part costing 300 USD elsewhere in the world where taxes apply, are even more costly prices here 3100 QR.

Not justified. Dont know if there is anything that protects the consumer rights here?

Not entirely true. Many items are expensive here in Qatar compared to a few other places in the Middle East itself, but still not comparable to Europe and USA.

You pay more for an item in UK than you'd in USA.

Europe, USA and UK, where standard of living are even higher, the cost of such commodities are as high.

In particular, retail prices of electronics, apparel and cosmetics are higher in Qatar but comparatively lower in UAE. Thats because, UAE is the sole supplier of these items to the neighboring countries.

I feel Qatar doesn't yet have a direct deal in imports and gets most of the supplies from UAE.
