bringing gold through airport

I am an Indian expat living in Doha. I am on vacation in India and was unexpectedly given a large amount of gold jewelry as inheritance by family. I don't have any place to leave it in India and want to take it to Doha with me. My wife can wear some of it but it is more than she can wear and so some will go into hand luggage.

Does the Doha airport impose any duties or tax for passengers bringing in gold?

bro if you feel Gold is excess .. then donate some gold to zakat and charity and get blessings from poor and needy.

Dear Abdul,

look at the comment of Molten Metal. Just follow that. you must(without fail) enter the quantity of jewellery in black and white with customs of your departure port. it will take almost 2-3 hours. so at least this time, dont be the last person on the check in queue.if you didn't follow it, you will be in trouble while you are taking this metal back. BUT, why can't you get one safety locker in any bank and keep it there..??

Wow. Indians get so much wealth by inheritance, etc.... wonderful and all this time I thought that the Indians were poor people

One option ..... Get it mentioned in the Passports ..... so whenever you re-enter India ..... folks at the airport won't ask unnecessary questions ......
