Brasileiros em Doha

Ola!

Camila

[Good thing my Mac has a language translator! Haha! ;)]

Haha! ;)]

Olá! lá, Camila! Boa vinda a Doha, Qatar!

1. there is no minimum salary in Qatar so a lot of people get paid really bad money - como brazil hay dinhero mais no tudos son ricos!

2. to get a job here you need to be offered a job before you arrive as you need to be sponsored to get a visa (como dice Fat Cat)

it is a good idea to do a search on QL (as FatCat said)

there are plenty of Middle East job sites where you can put your CV

the best paid jobs are for engineers in construction, oil and gas

so it depends what work you are looking for.

Best wishes Oryx

Oryx, I'm not sure prices are coming down... To be honest with you I didn't look at 3 bedrooms, so I can't really comment on such prices. Only looked at 1 and 2 bedrooms. And, believe it or not, you can find 1 bedrooms in a brand new building, unfurnished with a/c, for 6.5k. Not easy, though, I admit, and the 1 bedrooms here are VERY small. But it is doable. I even saw a brand new 1 bedroom for 5.5k with a/c, but it was way too small. I mean, the kitchen was in the living room. Not american style, it was actually part of the living room.

It is very very difficultto find buldings with amminities...here in doha..you would find amminities only in the villa compounds which are again very expensive...

Here in doha there is no concept of a building compond with amminities like garden/play area  for kids..swimming pool etc...

I searched a lot ..in doha..to find a place with such amminities...

In my building they are charging 10K for three bedrooms - semi furnished no amenities...maybe the rents are starting to come down!

Thanks FC - I stand corrected!

Oryx, I just rented a flat and saw quite 2 bedroom flats for that price, and that was less than 3 weeks ago. I saw a fully furnished flat in Al Sadd for 8.5k, and the flat was really big. But it was a plain building, no amenities whatsoever.

Camila, traffic here is awful, really bad for such a small place. But at least cars are a lot cheaper than in Brazil : ) And petrol is cheaper than water. Really.

Yes Bembida Camila, Qatar is very expensive. more than 1.5 times Australia.

But normally the companies will give you a apartment or a nice home allowance.

Oi Camila

My apologies for have written in Portuguese only.

As someone said, it is the same old question about living costs in Doha. Specially rent and utilities bills. My husband and I are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment.

Any tips on costs or better locations to look for places would be more than welcome.

Many thanks
