Best way to send money back to Singapore
Hi,
I have checked with HSBC and they told me that they are only interested in having my salary bank account with them. Otherwise, I will not be able to open a normal savings account with them. I was told that this is the same for all the banks in Qatar.
I went to Al Fardan exhange today to send USD back to Singapore. First, I was told by the rude teller that I need to include the address of the bank (this was not stated as one of the requirement on their notice pasted on the window). Next, the teller told me that I can only give her riyah to send usd back to singapore and they do not accept usd.
What can I do to send my usd dollar back to my Singapore bank account? Currently, I have a current account with QNB but I have not used this account yet as it was set up by my company. Is the last option to use 'human' courier? I never imagine that the situation will be so limited in this country.
I would appreciate if someone could tell me of their experiences or advise me on a solution to my question. Thanks in advance.
Hi, thanks for your advice. I am not sure if this is the correct way to post my reply to thank you for your helpful advice.
I will check out the option of internet banking with QNB as well.
Just register with QNB internet banking.
That's is the best way.
HI,

hmm... my pinoy colleague sends money back home using western union I believe... perhaps you can check... and since they're money exchanger, and USD-QAR exchange rate is fixed, you don't have to worry about any losses I guess... (except for fluctuating QAR-SGD rates)
hope this helps..
otherwise maybe you can try PayPal, but I'm not sure how to top up your PayPal account via a Qatari bank...
good luck~
