It is going to be sad, that they would increase the limit from QR4500 basic salary to QR7000 to sponsor your family here in Qatar. It is in the Peninsula newspaper today...what do you think?

Evie99, I don't mean to get personal but you said "your parter." You will need to be married to come as a family.

Hiya all =) am new to this site and am after a couple of bits of advice if possible plz, ive posted here because its basically mostly cost of living/financial things (as always) =p My partner has been offered position eithin a school as a teacher salary being 9k included with this wage, is all accomodation, utitlies, free school fees for 3 kidlets, free medical insurance and couple of other perks would be as a family of 5 survive? and also is it possible for me to get employment once i get there? Really im most concerned if we are gonna struggle or is this salary enough for us to start off with ? I currently work online for UK company and i work from home also, is it possible for me to continue working for them in qatar if i have their full support?

but they said its the basic salary, the housing and transport allowances were not mentioned... the thing is, only you and your spouse could remain here, the kids will go... hope it would not happen... ;0

If they are providing housing, medical and kids education other than 9K, I think its enough if you dont want to save much. Food is not expensive here, but if you want to buy branded stuff, then there is no limit. If you want to save e.g. say 5K / month, then your salary should be atleast 13K

I hope it helps.

Its basic salary .... not the total salary.

If a person has a basic salary of 7 - 8 K and is being provided accommodation or its compensation, and transport separately, I think 7K is enough. My family survives in 4K

other than housing and transport. And I think we have a pretty good lifestyle with one kid.

Nowadays even 7k looks so little. I am bachlor but still my expenses are more then 7K. How a family with 2 or 4 kids will survive with 7K. May be its really tough but not impossible.

Peace.
