Worker fighting for life after severe beating
by Soren Billing

An Indian construction worker is fighting for his life in a Riyadh hospital after being attacked by his superiors for protecting his co-worker from assault.

A group of social workers brought Sudheesh Kalathil Parambil, a manual labourer from the Indian state of Kerala, to the Riyadh Medical Complex after he was found in critical condition in Al-Kharj, a city 80km from the Saudi capital, Arab News reported on Saturday.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said that, based on reports made by co-workers, one of the man’s colleagues was caught taking a short break after loading a dump truck with sand.

The supervisor, an Egyptian national, began physically assaulting the workers and turned his rage on Parambil, beating him to unconsciousness after he intervened on his colleague’s behalf.

Parambil was brought to Al-Kharj by a good Samaritan.

The newspaper did not disclose the name of his employer out of legal concerns.

Why am I reading it here and nowhere else?? Uk gov't- and I expect anywhere else who could possibly make ANY difference- has Orwell's '1984' society..

No other country's propaganda machine will make something like this public as they're not vaguely interested... Why deal with another country's problems when you're too busy hyping up your own 'achievements' Didn't Blair just go somewhere looking sincere, for goodness sakes.. they're working day and night on it??

What a load of bollocks when some freaking Duke gets killed in Sarajevo and hundreds of thousands are sent to their death- every day for 4 years. This man is inconsequential.. he wasn't born to money, it wouldn't look good to rock the boat... 'We' feel sad.. but what can we do? Everyone is doing their best.. we even had Princess Diana?? She already did the landmine thing and looked good in blue :/

It makes me sick.. anyone for cricket?

Seriously Guyss.....what century are we living in !!!!!

I believe that such incidents should be made public internationally so that the world knows whats happening where and there is some sort of pressure on the local authorities ...i hope the guy recovers soon
