Please remember that telling truth is also helping other and helping to reduce corruption, misuse and slavery in any society. If I am wrong in posting this Article... please let me know...

Qatar is poorer than some of the poorest nation on the earth. May be looking at the title you might think that I am mad or insane. Anyway, let me tell you my logic and true facts which I have seen and bear myself and I will try to bring some concrete facts, of course you have your own logic, facts and solid evidence to prove me wrong.

By the way, it is not only roads or building with determines the richness. If you ask people for work and you promise to pay them but you don't pay them (for whatever reason) how people will judge you... you are rich or poor? By the way, you might argue and bring thousands of reasons, but let me tell you for whatever reason, you bring workers (poor workers from poorest nation on earth) also very cheap (less than QR500 per month) and still you don't pay their salaries( or dont have capacity to pay them), even it is so less, not for one month, two months, three months but for six months... then what hell you are rich? (you are simply poorer than that people, who are from poorest nation on earth... because you own their money.. but they don't own you anything...This what is called richness?

May be you can drive BMW, you can keep ten servants(rather say slaves that also for free) but don't pay your servants... what is the word which can be used to define you....?? By the way, if free servants... I can keep hundreds not ten of that type of servant.. after all they are all free!!!

You might say that it is individual problems, no you are wrong, Qatar government is involved let me give some concrete facts and reason.. read this thread published by Gulf-Times http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=248922...

Let me tell you how Government is involved in this whole play game... if you know basic law... in Any Murder case judge just don't give punishment to killer without listening whole story and determining the objective of killing....

My question is that there is Labor law as well as Followup department CID office(rather say detentions camps... there is another miserable stories of labour camps... if I have time I will post stories about that later...) If such crimes happen in your nation, in front of eyes of law of any nation and still you try to protect culprit, what can you say about that? Can I ask how many times government punished companies or individual in such cases. I have read similar stories of misuse of people back in 2004 and still situation is same...what can you say government is involved or not?

Another reality, if you don't believe me go to Philippines, Indian, Bangladesh, Nepal...(some of the poorest countries of world) and get facts and figure yourself....

Some might say that it is their own people cheating their own people....Oh my God your logic is childish how can one misuse another if law does not support such. Ok, tell me how many times you have misused Qataris and still government keep quite.... Of course you will be deported right there and them....

Big Story in short.... if you cannot pay poorest of poor that means you are poorer than poorest.

If it's more than that, there's something fishy going on here...like getting a 100 Million QRs of net profit for 1 year to get a company out of their sponsorship and find a new one...

...and why does a 'sponsor' need that kind of net amount for a company release?

If wealth is the secret to happiness, then the rich people should be dancing on d streets. But only poor people do dat.

If power ensures peace of mind, then officials should walk unguarded.

But those who live simply, are the one who slept soundly...

May we all hav peaceful days ahead w/ GOD’s abundant blessings!

Couldn't agree more with you Brit.

An accident can only happen if ALL safety guards fail. In this case, Qatar, Contractors, Govt of the workers are the safety guards. Be fair, they all share responsibility.

Regarding Exit permit, it is the rule of Qatar. But who has the authority to give exit permit to the suffering workers? The company right? My point is, be fair... Blaming will not solve problems. Just try to be positive (husnuzon) that Qatar is working to improve this condition.

BTW, This is out of our circle of influence, isn't it?

You are absolutely correct. The government has the means to stop this abuse and they should..

However, countries also need to stand up for their citizens.. You can't just put all the blame on the Qataris..

Some people like Muhandis still blame contractors, their own people and embassies. Very sad these type of people don't understand the main cause and promote Qatar government one way slavery rule. My friend, all these exploitation happening under Qatar LAW, inside QATAR, Qatar has more power and responsibility to stop this that anyone else.

Tell me why they have to stop people(need exit permit) when these poor people want to leave due to suffering here... where in this world, there is such rule, this is just a simple example of slavery.. list goes on and on... is this rule from (or problem of) contractors, embassies or their own people....??

Please note that in Islam... if bad things (misuse, exploitation and slavery) is happening in front of your eyes, Islam tell us to stop it if you have power, otherwise you will be sinner too..... Don't you think Qatar government has power to stop all those??

May ALLAH bless MUSLIMS and give HIDAYA before it becomes late and his punishment avail on US!

You are correct..However, the government needs to utilize "Inspectors" or such to regularly check the state of the workers' accomodation, health, salaries etc and take action if the contractor is not providing sufficient care.

The fault lies also with teh Embassies who let their citizens be abused in this manner..

Who do not pay the workers, Qatar or the Contractors? Most of the construction company are foreign companies and some of them are from Malaysia as well. Both Qatar and contractors share responsibility, but I think the Contractors company has bigger responsibility. Why should this Contractor company accept the contract if the profit margin is very low that makes them pay the worker less than QR 500 with terrible accommodation???

You make a very valid point. I believe the Prophet said something to the effect that a person must be paid his dues before the sweat has dried on his brow..

People tend to forget this, especially where the poor and needy are concerned..

However, you are also tarring all Qataris with the same brush. Many of the time , the culprits are not locals , but expats running the companies.

The bottom line is that checks and balances must be in place to ensure workers get paid on time..
