MOI Recruitment & Salary Scale

I have been interviewed by the MOI almost a year ago (June 2014 to be exact). I have received a Letter No. from them as a reference for follow up.

1. I would like to know if it takes such a long time for the next procedure (contract signing, visa transfer etc.).

2. I have been getting offers from other companies, but have put all on hold depending on MOI. Currently as an engineer, my salary is QAR5000 plus allowance. I would like to know if the wait is worth, ie, what would be the salary scale for an engineer working in the MOI? (I am an Indian, all certificates attested, and my Visa Profession is Electronics Engineer)

Awaiting for valuable responses.

This myth of Indians being paid low salaries just because they are Indians is just.. a myth.

I worked in the government with many Indian colleagues and their salaries were based on the governmental salary scale. Some of them earned 7k, others 15k, and others 25. They were entitled to gvt housing and any other benefit like anyone else. I moved later to a private (semi-private) company, where 60% of the staff are Indians. Labourers get the salary a labourer (1200 or may be less), and engineers get the salary of an engineer (20, 30 or 40k depending on the title). I know many Indians who work in agencies as marketing execs and who get the same salary an Arab or a Westerner would get, that is 10, 12 or 15k.

You see? It is a myth, or may be a practice done in some poor companies directed by ignorant managers, but it is clearly not a pattern. If you think because you are Indian you should accept 5000 because that is the way it is in Qatar then you are cheapening yourself.

yacine.h there are some hard realities in Qatar regarding Nationalities which i hope you are aware if you are a resident here. Many people who actually WORK do not get the deserving salary and changing companies is not as easy as you think.

I think you are the cheapest engineer in Qatar, and apparently you seem to be happy with it.
