How u deal with your Rude Boss..

By galunggong

It's been 2 years now and I had the rudest person so what we called boss. Here the example. I'm on the line " Good Morning, Mam u have a visitor here. He is Mr. X from the XX Company. She replied "Why r u calling me?! I don't care tell him go to hell!!!. I'm like Ahh..OK alryt. Then back to Mr. X " Sorry Sir but my boss is on the meeting right now.May I just have your business card and we will get back to you". Back to the old routine covering up the S*** words early morning from my very good boss.

What do u think?

No need to raise your blood pressure unnecessarily.Be cool and reply to visitor - "I AM SORRY SIR,BUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO HELL TO MEET HER"

Just turn in loud speaker, rest the visitor can do...

Awwww.. Alright, I'm done laughing..

So here are few tips, see if these work

- Always come to office with a smile, or greet her with a smile when she comes.

- Try giving suggestions rather than asking "What should I do?" Like in this case you could have asked her something like "Shall i tell Mr. X that you're busy and take his business card?" Or "Shall I tell him you're busy" .. anything that sounds like you are on HER SIDE and not the Visitor's side.

- Order her a coffee when you know its coffee time.. without her asking you for coffee.

- Don't act like a Robot who just "Obeys", be productive and make her realize that you can actually THINK.. But don't over do it, that can get even worse.

- Try to understand things she likes or dislikes then work accordingly.

- Get her gifts on occasions like, Christmas, Eids, Birthdays etc.

I'm just asking "How u deal with your rude Boss" and u keep on confessing your silly thoughts here with matching poem hahahaha... that's annoying it's none of your business why I stayed for 2 years with her. Don't include heaven. because in Heaven they don't allow bashing people instead of giving good opinion.

By azilana7037• 16 Dec 2012 16:54
azilana7037

Instead of comprehending what I wrote, you think I'm "bashing" you? With what?

BOTTOM LINE: If you don't like how your boss treats you? You feel miserable, unhappy? Then why in heaven's name you stayed there for 2 years. Just QUIT, RESIGN and look for another job.

There is a poem that goes like this:

If you work for a man,

in heaven's name, work for him.

Speak well of him and stand by the institution which he represents.

Remember that an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness,

If you must growl, condemn and eternally find fault

Why! resign your position.

And when you are outside,

Damn to your hearts content.

But as long as your a part of the institution,

Do not condemn it.

If you do, the first high wind that comes along

will blow you away

And probably you'll never know why.

azillana we are talking about proper manner here not because u need to teach me what to do. I'm not in Kindergarten for u to discuss my duties and responsibility here in QL. I'm with my position for 2 years as I told u before with or without appointment still the same manner what she's portraying I hope this is clear to you. Stop Bashing me :)

So, YOU (as the secretary) should get the information, Ask the visitor the purpose of his visit, and get his contact details. THEN check with your boss AFTER the visitor left.

You see, in my position in our company, its crazy hectic, I would flip my lid as well if the phone keeps ringing every now and then by calls from sales agents with their sales pitches.

That's what company secretaries do: screen calls

I won't even disturb/call to MY BOSS' extension unless I deem its an urgent matter, it's an expected call, call from his MOM or Dad.

I hope you understand what I'm pointing out.

azillana, even the visitor don't have any appointment, is it the right ay to talk to her secretary????????? I'm with her for 2 years so this is usual to me. with or without appointment the manner still the same..

Most the rude` boss already have psychiatric problem , kind of lack of confidence or skills which they like to fill it with some show off behavior at work , other have some sexual problems proven that they are not happy with their wives or even sexual impotence which they need to cover somehow ,

rude boss are pitiful need to visit the nearest psychologist, so just ignore soon your boss discover how miserable is

So it's presumed that it was 'a telephone call'

If the person came in to see his/her boss, the visitor should have an appointment. But with the (rude)answer OP got, its either he (Boss) don't know/expecting anyone.

Still, same procedure applies, screen the visitor if he has an appointment or just walked in to see the Manager of the company.

believe you me, I myself receive calls, visitors claiming they know my boss (when they don't) and I made a couple of mistakes myself. :)

By landloverreview• 15 Dec 2012 15:20

Azilana,

I think the OP had a visitor physically standing in front of his desk with his full body...I mean it was not a call.

on top of other responsibilities in the company.

At the time your boss was rude, maybe your boss is busy or in the middle of something important and doesn't want to be disturbed. Sometimes, bosses are cranky coz they may be resolving an issue?

My point is this: if someone calls asking to speak to your boss, you screen the call.

- Always assume that your boss is busy (coz he/she maybe IS BUSY).

- Introduce yourself to the caller that you're the secretary/assistant and ask what is the purpose of the call.

USUALLY, AGENTS/SALES PEOPLE will call and ask for the top honcho just to do a sales pitch or set an appointment (mercenary selling tactics)

- If the caller is vague with his purpose of calling and won't give you any information, ask for the caller's number and tell that you're boss is UNAVAILABLE to take the call and will call back.

- Then call/tell your boss that Mr/Ms X of company ABC called to speak with your boss. YOUR BOSS will tell you if she knows the caller or not. So, when the caller calls again, you know what to do next.

People receiving calls for the company needs to screen calls first...that's part of their job.

I'm not saying it's your fault...but just passing the call just like what you did isn't good as well.

IS TO IGNORE THE WORDS SHE USE WHEN YOU ARE SPEAKING TO YOUR BOSS.. JUST SAY , I DIDNT GET YOU. AND IRRITATE HER MORE. TRY TO RECORD YOUR CONVERSATION N PUT HER IN TROUBLE IF SHE TRIES TO TORTURE U MORE.
