Hiring process in Qatar
Hi,
I need some help in general about hiring process/policy in Qatar.
I am a US citizen and finished couple of rounds of phone interviews including the hiring manager in a fairly big Q* company. The hiring manager said he will talk to HR folks and that they will contact me with the compensation package so I can do some research and decide whether to proceed further or not. I haven't heard anything from HR yet even after a couple of follow-up emails including a simple HR questionnaire they sent me.
My question is, what is the normal process of hiring in Qatar? Here in US from my past experiences, once the hiring manager gives a go ahead, the HR process is a formality. But I think HR plays a bigger role in Qatar and I am assuming HR decided not to proceed (may be based on my current salary - speculation on my part). Of course it is only a couple of weeks since I finished my second round of interview with the hiring manager and I get that things in Qatar move at a slower pace than I am used to in US.
Are my chances of landing in Qatar slim now? Should I follow-up with HR again and see what the hold up is? Should I wait longer to hear from HR? Should I take another opportunity in US itself without waiting for an answer?
Thanks for all the answers in advance and sorry for the long post.
Finally the wait is over and onto deciding whether the offer is good enough to make the move....

Thanks a lot guys/gals. It seems all's not lost and let the waiting game begin........
its all about "be patient" here in Qatar. expect the unexpected. :-)
mine, 3 months of total hiring process. now its my second week here. good luck.
You just need to wait. First of all before they called you, they already know your worth (as a us citizen). They will not call you if they don't need you. I have seen offers to uk nationals too and believe me, its way way up.
