Construction crooks.

I need some help on what we need to do. We had a new building done by a construction company and realize now that they are charging a lot more for work done. Variations galore. There are some of the variations that we were able to check and 80% of those were incorrect. In the construction companies favour ofcourse.

There are a certain number of variations, specially to do with tiling, additional works to tender drawings etc. To check those is difficult as we are not architects/professionals.

It seems that the consultant is working with the construction company to get them approved.

I need help with this. Is there any one out there who can assist? I need someone honest and whom I can trust. Is that possible????

What would you do? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

that you are talking about. You need to sit with somebody who will stand as your personal consultant since you feel that the present consultant is seem conniving with the contractor.

Now if you may, I can have a look and check whether what you are saying is valid and advice you on what you may do as your next step. It can not be done on mere thread as like this. Mind you, advice is free until I tell you if you need really another consultant that you need to pay to protect your right.

Wat kind of variations is the contractor asking for?

The lateness is not really the problem. The problem is more what they are asking for as variations. These need to be checked as the ones we checked had many mistakes and additions

Aisha.. Its difficult to get that done.. however you can ask for a remeasurement with your presence... that way you can catch on the extra measurements.. and regarding the drawings check the tender if the unit is item.. if the unit is nos. there is nothin much you can do.. And Tiling also can be remeasured..

Regarding the delay, check if there is some paperwork from contractor's side?? Maybe some things were delayed from ur side or the consultant's side.. If not, you better check if there a clause in the agreement for delay & the penalty against that??
