WATCH: Welcome to Qatar - Museum of Islamic Arts
The Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA) is one of Qatar’s most iconic buildings. The building was designed by the renowned architect I.M. Pei whose portfolio includes the famed louvre pyramid in Paris, France.
MIA opened to the public over 10 years ago on December 1, 2008, and is now one of the top tourist attractions in the country. In this week’s episode of Welcome to Qatar, we present some rather impressive footage of this amazing museum.
Some types of treasures on display in the Museum of Islamic arts include: metalwork, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, textiles and glass. The collections come from the three continents of the Islamic world that dates back between the 7th and 19th century.
The museum also houses a library, gift shop, several eateries, plus, some of the most beautiful spots for photography in Doha.
