WATCH: QL Exclusive: An interview with the social media influencer, Haneen Al Saify
Qatar Living speaks to the social media influencer and entrepreneur, Haneen Al Saify, to learn more about her journey since she started blogging.
Haneen is one of Qatar’s most followed influencers with thousands of followers across different platforms. She is an inspiration for many women in the Middle East.
Haneen makes beauty and fashion related videos. She currently has 666k followers on Instagram, and her account is verified as well.
She likes combining modest fashion, makeup, and lifestyle that suites Islamic and Arabic culture.
Haneen’s blogging journey on social media started in 2013.
Although she has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineer from Qatar University, Haneen did not see herself in this field, so she decided to change career.
“After graduating, I just found that I am not in the right place and I felt that I needed to change my career, so I started doing what I love,” she said.
“I believe that there is a difference between being a blogger and being a social media influencer. Being an influencer means to gain peoples trust and respect, and if you want people to be influenced by you, they need to respect you as a person and you need to be honest with them,” she described.
Haneen believes that Hijabi fashion blogs helped cast a light on the true needs of Hijabi women.
“I had a message since the first day I started on social media, which is to tell the world that the Muslim woman, especially the Hijabi woman, is pretty even when she covers her hair,” she added.
Haneen has been a self-learner in her field but she also attended several courses and online classes to learn more about how to be an influencer on social media. This was a huge step for her to be an entrepreneur as well by starting her own business.
Haneen had been always working with brand-names but now she has her own brand as she has her own company that focuses on branded lashes and turban (a modern head scarf).
The idea behind Haneen's brand, according to her is, "to inspire every girl to be trendy and elegant from inside out."
Talking about her inspiration, Haneen said, “My inspiration has been always a woman. This woman is HH Sheikha Moza, and I believe most of the women of Qatar are inspired by her. I am always inspired by how elegant and well-educated she is. So, I believe that she is my idol,” she said.
Haneen concluded by giving an advice saying, “ be real- because most of the people connect social media with being fake. The only thing that helps you be special is to be a real person.”
