Tips to save up in Qatar

Although Qatar is a rich country, leading a life in here is expensive for most of its expats. Everything starting from the basics like food to house rent until clothing, entertainment and etc. boasts of a huge price tag for most of its expats.

Let’s face it- expats come milling to this country to earn as much as the bank accounts could hold, to save up and to get back to their homeland.

However, in the middle of this seemingly easy process, most of us tend to spend more than what we expect. But, things can be better if we know where to go for the best deals in Qatar-

Eating out-

Dining out is a major entertainment in this country. However, making use of deals and discounts through apps and websites like Qgrabs, The entertainer etc. can ease the stress on the wallet. Moreover, you would also find deals on hotels, gyms and spas.

Entertainment-

You could have a lovely weekend by spending absolutely nothing in Qatar. There are plenty of places to explore in this country other than the malls and the movie theatres. Qatar has some beautiful parks, museums and beaches that your whole family could enjoy without any spending involved.

Also, the country even organizes sporting events and car races that are open and free to the public.

Furniture-

While living as an expat, you might think that spending too much on furniture isn’t the wisest move. However, you could go second hand. Looking for a car? Why not go for a second hand one? Check out our classifieds section for the best deals in town.

Clothing-

While clothing can be a tad pricier in Qatar, wait for the sales and shopping promotions to appear in malls and department stores. You’d find sales in shops when Eid approaches or when Eid is over and all the shopping done.

Also, head to the Souq Wakef or the Dragonmart mall if you’re looking for cheaper options.

what do you mean by RICH country!

i came from UAE, and i'm in a shock.

for example, fresh live chicken cost 14AED - 16 AED, here it is 20 QR,

everything in qatar is 20% more expensive. except fuel / Gas (but maintenance of vehicle is for more expensive)

to me country's richness is measured by its purchasing power.

You've forgotten the biggest headache: rents!! And there is nothing you can do about it unless you decide to live in a tent. And the other headache without a cure is education. Schools are money-making machines. The rest is adjustable, these two are not.
