No rain for the time being; only fog or mist in Qatar
Though the rain has disappeared for the time being, Qatar may be heading towards another spell of unsteady weather by the time the weekend comes, announced the Qatar Meteorology (Met) Department.
The temperature dropped again this morning with a minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius in Abu Samra and 16 degrees Celsius in Doha with maximum temperature ranging between 23 to 26 degrees Celsius as the day progresses. Some parts of the country faced low visibility in the early hours today on certain inshore areas; late night fog and mist are predicted in some offshore areas.
Qatar has faced quite a few cold and windy spells with temperatures falling to a low not experienced for 55 years making it the coldest February since 1962. The country has also experienced two rainy spells accompanied with thunder and lightning in some parts. The skies started to clear late Sunday afternoon, after intermittent rain was seen in different parts of the country on Saturday.
The Met Department issued data on social media which showed that Mesaieed experienced 7.1mm of rain and Turayna experienced 9mm of rain between Friday and Sunday morning.
Today’s detailed forecast shows hazy to misty or foggy weather conditions may be experienced in some parts of Qatar at first which will be followed by mild daytime conditions. Visibility may drop to 2km or less in some parts in the early morning. Offshore areas may also see hazy to misty or foggy conditions late tonight late tonight, reported Gulf Times.
