Recent years have seen an increased occurrence of fires in the country.
According to the latest statistics available, there have been around 1,135 fires in 2014. 133 of those were due to electrical faults. In 1,002 cases, the cause of the fire was not disclosed/reported by the investigators. In 2016, there have already been four cases of fires in commercial areas, the most recent being the blaze at the Mall of Qatar.
A fire can break out in the most unexpected of places and if not properly dealt with, can lead to loss of life and severe property damages.
Just last year, Civil Defence placed an order for $28 million in firefighting equipment.
Civil Defence urges residents to take measures to mitigate the chances of a fire breaking out in their residences and office spaces.
