Today we've decided to feature a list of 15 different landmarks and places in Qatar clicked by some great Instagrammers in the country.

National Museum of Qatar (Zeyad)

National Museum of Qatar(NMoQ) tells the story of Qatar and its people, giving voice to Qatar’s rich heritage and culture and expressing a vibrant community’s aspirations for the future.

With its extraordinary variety of sensory experiences, and its historic core of the Palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim, son of the founder of modern Qatar, the museum embodies the fullness of Qatar's history, heritage, and contemporary life.

The museum building — designed by famed French designer Jean Nouvel who is a winner of the Pritzker Prize — on the Doha Corniche is forged using an interlocking disc design inspired by the Qatari desert rose.

Amid a host of facilities for visitors of all ages, NMoQ offers a highly interactive and immersive experience, that showcases Qatar in three different chapters: Beginnings, Life in Qatar, and Building the Nation, all of which come in 11 stunning galleries.

Museum of Islamic Arts(Acelmi)

The Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA) is one of Qatar’s most iconic buildings. The building was designed by the renowned architect I.M. Pei whose portfolio includes the famed louvre pyramid in Paris, France.

MIA opened to the public on December 1, 2008, and is now one of the top tourist attractions in the country.

IM Pei’s design of the MIA reflects and was inspired by the ablution fountain called the Sabil in the 9th-century Mosque of Ahmad Ibn Tulun in Cairo, Egypt.

MIA is resident to a vast range of Islamic art collected from all over the Muslim world and across three continents, reaching as far as China, India, and Spain.

During the cooler months of the year in Qatar, the MIA holds a weekend Bazaar in the MIA garden where you can find hundreds of stalls that are selling foods, accessories, handicrafts, clothes, art, paintings, etc. It's a place for everyone and a popular hangout place for families who want to enjoy the outdoors.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, library visits will continue to be by appointment only . To borrow books, you need to request them in advance ( at least two working days before the time slot you have booked for your library visit. You will need your library ID to self-checkout these books).

Msheireb Downtown Doha (faz.__.l)

Considered as the world’s ‘smartest’ and ‘most sustainable’ city district, Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), is a new destination for leisure, living, and business.

Msheireb has awesome spots to take photographs with tall buildings and an Arabesque vibe, particularly with its waterfront in Mondrian Doha. We won't be surprised if you click photos in every corner wandering in awe

Purple Island(shafaz_b_deen)

Purple Island is located on the northeast coast of Qatar. The best part is that it is surrounded by mangroves and is suitable for family outings. You can reach there by driving to Al Khor and continuing towards Al Thakira. You won't need a 4x4 SUV for this, which makes it all the more convenient for many.

This is an excellent place for easy rock climbing, Kayaking, or just enjoying the beach and the beautiful sunset.

Zekreet Film City(sam_forever0)

Zekreet is a village in north-western Qatar near Dukhan and about 80 kilometers north-west of Doha. Originally a sparsely populated area, Zekreet was built up in the 1940s after oil operations commenced in Qatar. There are several visitor attractions and old ruins at the site, one of the most notable being the Zekreet Fort, which is housed to the immediate north of the village.

Film City is a structure replicating a small Arabic city with minarets and lined with palm trees. Like other ruins it is abandoned, but an interesting sight to behold nevertheless; the new with the old in the history of Qatar.

The Qanat Quartier also contains an extensive canal system, pedestrian-friendly squares and plazas, and beachfront townhouses.

Simaisma Beach(r4pd)

The beach is breath-taking and sandy for those who want to look at the water and grill out, it is sheer enchantment. With kilometers of fine sand, Simaisma beach is a delight for visitors with a variety of atmospheres and an exceptional range of colors.

If you are looking forward to visiting anytime soon, take the highway towards Al Khor (from D ring road all the way to landmark), and look for the exit to Lusail International Circuit.

Remember on the right before Al Khor exit, there is Al Simaismah exit. Then go straight until the Simaisma area is reached and the beach is nearby.

Souq Al Wakrah(travelholic_foodie_naturelover)

Souq Al Wakrah reflects the old culture and heritage of the country out of its structure, shops, mosques, cafes, and traditional dhow boats. Everything here has a vintage touch that adds more attraction to the place.

If you want to explore the area around the beach, a 4×4 is needed or, you would have to park your car a bit before the beach.

Note: If you are planning to visit make sure you take your supplies with you from Doha as there aren’t many stores or eateries close by.
