Covid Conundrum!

Hello All,

Hope you're all staying safe.

So, I'm currently stuck outside Qatar since Feb 2020 and it doesn't seem like I'll be back until September or maybe even later-given the circumstances. My company shut down and I lost my job in May 2020 and we were given time till Aug to transfer our sponsorship before it gets cancelled, although my RP is valid until Aug 2021.

So, I quickly want to check:

1-if my Visa is cancelled in Aug will i still be able to travel as a Resident permit holder to Qatar, say in September? because you do get 3 months grace period after the cancellation right?

2-Will my RP automatically get cancelled because i've been away for 6 months? especially since they're being lenient with renewal of expired ID if residents are stuck outside?

Please let me know.

Thanks

1. No. If you're vida is cancelled and you are inside the country then you have time. You won't be able to come back.

2. No. They're not automatically cancelling RPs if you stay outside for more than 6 months. Previously they did but with COVID it's more lenient.

If your company gets shut down your RP will be cancelled automatically (most likely).

Cannot answer your question, my 2 bit follows..

Do not expect any thing concrete till after October 2020. September 2020 is expectations. Secondly if you are from Asia, expect a longer period for things to get back to resemblance of normal. In our company we are expecting Feb 2021 for things to level out.
