Entertainer: App vs Book

With the launch of the Entertainer mobile app across all platforms many people have started asking questions:

• What are the benefits of the app over the book?
• How does the app work?
• Is it any use in Doha?

I started using the app a few months ago and I'm hooked. The app boasts a big range of features with the map and search features being my favourites. But, let me start from the top: 

The App

The app is FREE, yes, I said FREE. Everyone assumes you pay for the app - Not true, you buy the vouchers in the app. It is available on Blackberry , Android, Apple and Windows.

Download the app and setup your own entertainer account (again, this is all free). At this point you will be a member and have access to the monthly entertainer specials.

During setup you will be prompted to select a 4-digit PIN which you will need to remember & use to redeem the vouchers. 

The Mobile product

Within the app you will be able to browse the entertainer mobile vouchers by clicking on the Buy button. It allows you to have a look at the places where you can redeem the vouchers before you actually purchase anything.

In Doha there are two mobile products available: Entertainer Qatar Mobile 2014 (including a ton of dining options and some travel vouchers too) and the Entertainer Qatar Body 2014/2015 (Spa and Fitness included). Prices are the same as the book.

Selected the Qatar Mobile product and click on BUY NOW to make an in app purchase - you'll need to have your credit card handy.

Give the app 10 minutes once the Qatar mobile product is purchased and it will be ready for use on your phone.

Using the voucher

When visiting a restaurant make sure to tell your server that you would like to use the entertainer voucher. At the time to pay the bill select the voucher you wish to redeem.

Enter your PIN and hand your mobile to the staff member who will enter their PIN and done! The voucher is redeemed and your buy-one-get-one-free has just happened. It is as simple as that!

App vs Book

Book: Always forget the book in the car or home.

App: Always on hand - You always carry your phone so you always have access.

Book: Flip through the book to look for the voucher

App: Search the name of the place you are looking for immediate results - No time wasted.

Book: Unclear which voucher can be used at which mall or area

App: Lists places by what is closest to you, also has a map view so you can browse how to get to places.

Really, in Doha?

I was skeptical too but have realised that you just need to make yourself clear from the beginning. If you are calling to make a reservation then make mention that you would like to use your entertainer voucher.

When your waiter seats you then tell them you want to use your Mobile app voucher - and even take a moment to show them - it just gives them a heads up in case they need to ask their manager for the PIN.
