Qatar tops rankings of Arab countries at Tokyo 2020
With its impeccable performance, Team Qatar has positioned itself at the top of the rankings of Arab countries that participated in the most recent edition of the Olympics, Tokyo 2020.
In a post on its Twitter page, Qatar’s Government Communications Office (GCO) recognized Team Qatar's dedication to delivering its best and bringing honor to the country.
“We are proud of Team Qatar for their historic achievements and top ranking amongst Arab countries participating in the Tokyo Olympics,” the GCO said.

Team Qatar secured 2 gold and 1 bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that concluded this week.
Ibrahim also set an Olympic record in Clean and Jerk on his way to the gold, lifting 225kg. In the snatch, he lifted 177kg.
One of Qatar’s most adored athletes, Mutaz Barshim displayed true sportsmanship as he shared a gold medal with his Italian opponent in the men's high jump competition at the Olympics.
For two-time World Champion Barshim, the result finally ended a long wait for Olympic gold in a career that has seen him progress from a bronze medalist at the 2012 London Games to silver in Rio four years later, and now finally landing the holy grail of athletics.
Qatar's Beach Volleyball duo, Sherif Younis and Ahmed Tejan, also bagged the bronze medal in men’s beach volleyball, making Qatar the first Arab country to do so in a non-individual game in the history of the Olympics, GCO highlighted.
