Giants Lekhwiya set new QSL record by thrashing Al Shahania 10-0
Newly-promoted Al Shahaniya got a taste of top-level footballing action when they were drubbed 0-10 by four-time Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Lekhwiya on Wednesday.
It is the biggest winning margin in QSL history. While four of the 10 goals were born in the first half, the other six came in the second half.
Djamel Belmadi’s boys fired the first shot in just the second minute, through a header by Spaniard Chico Flores.
Twenty minutes later, Lekhwiya doubled their advantage through Yusef El Arabi. Four minutes and Lekhwiya had a third, through Yusef Msakni.
Lekhiwya were fluid throughout the game and young Moez Ali added to Al Shahania’s misery in the 38th minute.
After the half, Shahaniya tried desperately to prevent further goals, but it was not to be.
Yusef El Arabi scored an easy goal in the 64th. Yusef Msakni then grabbed his second goal of the evening in the 70th. Moez Ali soon completed his own double of the evening.
South Korean Nam Tae-Hee, substitute Ali Afif and Yusef El Arabi completed the rout of Al Shahaniya and a new QSL record was born.
