Fahad Al Haddad is Qatar’s Strongest Man for second year in a row
Fahad Al Haddad retained his title as Qatar’s Strongest Man during the fourth edition of the competition at the ASPIRE Park on Friday. Hamad Al Jaidah and Fahad Al Maadid finished as second and third respectively.
In the competition for expatriates, Kenya’s Cristopher Oketch emerged as victorious with almost an unbelievable performance in the ‘truck pulling challenge.’ Portuguese Ricardo Ferreira was second while Egypt’s Mohamed Duwaidar was third.
The competition, which has been growing each year, attracted an unprecedented 1,500 plus spectators.
The competition tested the participants for their strength and endurance. They had to complete a number of intense challenges including lifting cars, heavy weights and sand bags, flipping giant wheels and truck pulling.
Commenting on his second win, Qatari participant al-Haddad said:
“This year’s competition was far tougher than previous years. I’m very happy to retain my title as Qatar’s Strongest Man. I am looking forward to coming back and completing a hat-trick of wins,” Al Haddad said after collecting the trophy.
Oketch too was ecstatic.
“I had won the title in 2014, but couldn’t win it last year. So I was determined to put my best foot forward this year. I’m really thankful to my coaches and friends for supporting me throughout,” he said.
