What Has Qatar Living Taught You So Far?

Happy Happy
By Happy Happy

Qatar’s Eye, is what I tend to call QL. I've been annotating my welcome business emails to newcomers at work with QL's link, CCing my boss!! now he knows I'm a QLer, how smart is that?!

The main reason I generally - of course I get disgruntled at times- cherish this Forum, is that I've been hearing stories of how it helped expats relocate smoothly. (I can cite these)

Personally, I like it for these reasons:

1- More Info about Qatar.
2- Patience and endurance (seriously).
3- Connect.
4- Intensive cultural exposure.
5- Qatar's tabloid...:))

Do you have something positive to say for a change?

Salaam

i had some good friends, became wiser, tried to understand the others and endure them whatever their ideology is , ignore the bigot & ignorant ,and IT IS VIRTUAL WORLD that means everything is covered by masks and could be fake whatever it is GOOD or BAD and you could discover that the opposite is the real.

has taught me to be responsible when posting threads by avoiding foul language. QL is simply my outlet which I can share ideas, learn ideas ranging from work-related issues to familiarization of the culture in this country. This broaden my horizon I should say.

....I've logged out then realized the Mods may not open the Groups option back, in this case it's alright by me for the Mods to de-activate my account.

So, I'm just saying it's been a great pleasure to be a QLer for years. I don't like goodbyes, so, I'll leave my fellow QLers and the Moderstors as well at, you're the best..:)

By KHATTAK• 7 Jul 2010 23:49

Once I suggested to a QLer (with some position on QL) that by default, every QLer should have the right to post in any thread under any group BUT the Group Manager should have the right to ban a particular QLer from posting in the group if he/she is bashing or using foul language. The recent move from the Admin is good atleast for us... The Pakistanis. You wont see a single thread posted in Pakistan Group that was initiated to praise or to celebrate some achievement without a number of bashers & haters of Pakistan. The moment something good is posted about us, the usual haters would just poke in and start sh*t stirring.

I just hope if the Admin can give enough moderating rights to the Group Managers to take some action within the Group's Threads.....If it happens then there wont be any need to ban every QLer from posting in Group's threads.

By Happy Happy• 7 Jul 2010 23:48

.....Folks, I want to leave a good legacy. You guys can start a Voting thread on this issue, and let QLers decide on what they think is best.

I won't take part, I've already protested. I barely make fuss about anything.

Enjoy QLing..:)

...Mods,If you still care at all, please notify me on email when you open the Groups back for the rest of us.

I'm not interested in read-only mode or having to subscribe to all QL Groups to be able to establish a conversation with QLers.

All the best.

Thanks.

Bye.

....legal_pad, great input. I truly think QL has gotten away with a lot, and unable to identify its direction. It's a platform left for enhancement, but realistically, it would never satisfy all tastes and preferences. I don't see this happening.

QL has groups entertaining distinct interests and catering for minorities. I think they're not optimally utilized by QLers, many want to stay pampered in the "Executive Lounge"..:)

Honestly,

QL has its good days and bad days, it all depends on how is your savory mood for day.

As we know QL is not well digest and process many times and it is not designed for everyone's convenience store.

What it lacks in truly is open frankness and freedom of speech and nothing more.

But unfortunatly, QL ISP, the sponsor is located in a moslem state, govern by their own morals and civil laws all applicable to the web site censorship rules and founders.

So for the moment I'll rated QL in my most popular chart #47 of the 50 most popular.

We should promote you vice coconut juice of QL.

Edifis...

Well for starters its "Paki's" they are from PAKISTAN.. not Bakis.

and what do you mean by MOD?

I never heard of anyone bashing any other religions... So i dont know what your talking about... Yes there are rules out there (dress code, hugging a female in public, kissing a female in public, etc) but that isnt against any sort of religion... they are not "bashing" it. The fact of the matter is... this is an Islamic country and whoever is in here needs to respect the way these people live. I actually feel very safe in this country, I have a girlfriend and I dont worry when she goes to the mall or something (unlike MANY other countries).

So please, for anyone that doesnt like it... LEAVE.. LEAVE Qatar! The traffic is too crazy anyway! Go back to your countries that your so proud of BUT cant get a decent job there! People need to stop complaining

Qatar taught me how to drive better... LMAO! Its basically NO RULES... every person on his own. I kinda like it :P ... i just HATE the traffic

By edifis• 21 May 2010 09:05

MOD is God.

Islam (best/praise/bashing)

other religions (praise/bash)

(My religion best/My daddy strongest)syndrome

Pink Kia/Ramada.

Smelly Indians.

Terrifying Bakis.

Kabaayan Kabaayan....Hindi naman.

Some Europeans (We are the best/rest are shit)syndrome.

And lots more
