"I think it's extremely significant that yesterday, Sunday, within a week of the resolution being passed, some chemical weapons were being destroyed," said Kerry.

"I think it's a credit to the Assad regime, frankly. It's a good beginning and we welcome a good beginning," he added.

Obummer, Camoron and the Frenchies are trying to ensure that the wording gives them an option of using military force if required. This has shades of Iraq and Libya and is very worrying.

Personally I think the atomic bombs were justified. The whole of Japan was one huge war machine. The people of China, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and many islands in the pacific were not sorry to see the Japanese defeated.

Korea for instance was not just conquered by forced to become Japanese but inforcing the Japanese language and using their women as sex slaves.

If you look at the horrific battles the Brits and Americans fought against the Japanese taking the mainland would have been a disaster in lost lives on both sides.

I think for Syria the real blame lies with God. God invested most of this time in the Middle East, starting three major religions and what has that left us with in the last 2000 years?

Non-stop wars, secterian and religious violence throughout the region. The other areas where he was not at work are mainly peaceful, a lesson for us all there.

In my point of view, Though US has rejected meeting Russia in Geneva , they should meet again and should think of dividing Syria into two, one in favor of Assad and another to form their own government, the way they prefer, it could be democratic or whatever. Like Qatar was once controlled by Bahrain, Pakistan was India.

Or if they don't agree, let them fight each other until the end but as per my analysis Foreign intervention is more dangerous than allowing them to fight each other.

Or if they really like to intervene they should destroy both Assad regime and the rebel forces and the civilians form their government and let them build Syria from scratch.

Gaddafi had all his defense system centralised in particular areas of his country but Assad has all his military and defense system built in the residential areas where thousands of civilians live. Any attack on his defense system will surely end up with a loss of 100s and thousands.

For a moment if we agree (though I wont without any proper evidence, just as a case) that Assad used chemical weapons :

"Assad used chemical weapons and killed people ( civilians ), we will use weapons and still kill people ( civilians )"

What is the difference?

Analysis of thousands of captured Iraqi secret police documents and declassified U.S. government documents, as well as interviews with scores of Kurdish survivors, senior Iraqi defectors and retired U.S. intelligence officers, show (1) that Iraq carried out the attack on Halabja, and (2) that the United States, fully aware it was Iraq but accused accused Iran, (NY Times Published: January 17, 2003)

The only majority muslim country that has avoided this trap is Turkey and it was Attaturk who cleverly enshirned democracy and seperation of state and religion in decision making. This allow the creation of a Turkish entity.

This has worked well up until now. (Unfortunately the current PM is trying to make changes based on religious rule, hence the recent protests)

Lonius Do you mean to say having Assad is better than not having anyone else?

Is it possible to at least divide Syria into two , half as Assad's Syria and the other half as Rebel's Syria as both of them them considerable population supporting them.

Everyone should be given one week or a month time to choose where do would like to live.

There must be better solutions if we are not biased and if we truly dont like any bloodshed.

nor Rebels. I am worried about the civilians. These questions are keeping me awake late night.

After Intervention will it stop revenge & ethnic killings all over Syria ?

Will intervention escalate the Syrian civil war even further dragging other countries in ?

Will it stop the continuation of massacres from either side ?

Who are we really arming and supporting ?

Where will weapons end up ?

Will the rebels turn on each other for control at a later point ?

Will the intervention actually protract this Syrian war ?

Will Syria end up yet another Afghanistan or Iraq where killings continue to this day with bombings on a daily basis?

World is already poor and needy.

No one outside forces will intervene. Bcoz others were already there when the war conflict intensified. Still the opposition had outside support thats why syrian civil war drag on .

The reason why dictators stayed for so long is because people followed them for too long.

Assad should have been removed a long time ago. The problem is people don't care until they were affected.

How I wish there is intervention by countries who have no motive except to free the people of Syria. I pity them...

Syrian people should act fast because the longer Assad stays, more attacks from his forces will happen.

God Bless to All the People of Syria who opposes Assad.

Can someone tell me, why Assad is bad before this conflict started.

I mean before the demonstrations and the attack by the military on the civilians. Till these incidents, i haven't read bad about him like for example Saddam, Ghaddafi, etc..

More importanly, IF they intervene (I hope not, but Europe and UK are constantly asking US when they will do something...eejits), who, after one side is gone, will take over? The Free Army? They are riddled with Al Qaida and who knows what else.....

Idiot west(?)....lol, then why everyone is running (almost begging) west to help in this conflict;

why cant they (syria/rebel) settle themselves?

if they keep n fighting..one day only one party (the winner) will survive, even one person.

for sure Israel, US and UK are involved in this dirty game and Rebels were backed and created by them

"i sometimes think that UN/USA are behind these chemical attacks"

Attitudes like this is why we should just let them keep killing themselves.

Yes! The US has made its mind up. The UK will follow the lead and we will have a bigger mess than before.

Whatever the rights and wrongs - in the end the West will get the blame for :

Intervening

Having their own agenda

Destroying Syrian Army fighting capability to help Israel

Selling arms to rebels etc etc

The biggest danger I see is that it could lead to idiots in the West taking revenge a la 7/7

Which side would they take? The UN inspectors are saying it was the rebels using chemical weapons, not Assad. The plots been lost in this war.
