According to leaked documents reported by Al-Arabia News Channel the deadly Villaggio fire I which claimed the life of 19 people most of whom were daycare going little kids had been orchestrated and carried out by the Syrian government and its embassy here in Qatar. Hummm, seems very far fetched. Didn't it state the fire was from faulty wiring in a light? In a Nike store.... Maybe next they will say America did it, since that is an American store....

Peace be upon the victims, and I for one don't fall for conspiracy theory.

Accidents happen all the time by poor wiring done by non licensed "electricians" to build fast and cheap.

So sad.

The Documents may or may not be forged... but what is obvious is the winds of strife in near by countries is slowly blowing towards Qatar...

India & Pakistan are very familiar with this type of situation...lol

I find this sad. It's awful that these poor parents have to hear these conspiracy theories, rather than actually find out what happened to their children. :(

A little while ago, the building my husband's office is in,and where I am hanging around, had a false alarm. And I'll be a liar if I say the words "Syria" didn't pop into my head. Followed of course by something on the lines of "Oh My God I hope I'm not gonna fry!"

Thankfully though it was as I said a false alarm and alls well now! But yeah rumors are such that even if you claim not to believe may very just be sticking in your head..

I thought Al-Arabiya is quite a reliable source of informaton. They likely verified the information before reporting it.

If true, this also means that there are security issues there which may not be under control. KSA and Qatar are close brothers and allies and unlikely to undermine each other unnecessarily.

But as Britex said, it could well be to deflect from the real cause of the fire.

Then there are the imaginary friends every journalist has these days called "Sources"

By britexpat• 2 Oct 2012 10:17

"may", "might", "possibly"

Even if there was a plot to embarrass Qatar. How can we verify that this was the incident related to it.

i watch news channels every day. They use terms like "unverified" regularly. The idea is to get sensationlise and get attention. No-one notices an apology or retraction printed/shown later..

Would hurt Arabiya's reputation pretty bad if this were fake.Think they are supposed to double check their info...possibly through sources that have defected from the regime etc.

The father of the triplets said the report was "disturbing, but not surprising."

"These sorts of rumours start spreading when the authorities in Qatar simply refuse to release any information to the families, public and media about what actually happened," he said today from San Francisco.

"Whether it is true or not I have no idea, [but] to stop these rumours the government needs to release the report.

The claim remains dubious as no specific plans were laid out in the first memo and no details are offered in the second. It also remains unclear whether there was even a Syrian ambassador in Qatar on Feb. 18, as the GCC announced on Feb. 7 that all Gulf states were expelling Syrian ambassadors.

Couple of days back Al Arabiya "leaked" that the Turkish pilots were killed by Assad and didn't die in a plane crash.

They "may" just be trying to mount the pressure on Assad.

By britexpat• 2 Oct 2012 08:40

They use words like "may" , "might" to cover themselves. if i didn't know better, I "might" think that it was a ruse to deflect attention from the real cause of the fire and prosecution of culprits.
