RAW VS JPEG : The Real Difference

By djustified •
One of the most confusing things for an amateur photographer is, getting to understand the difference between RAW images vs the Jpeg . Jpeg is the compressed form of the image and looses some amount of data after being saved. In contrast, RAW files undergo negligible compression allowing better post processing options and are higher in quality. Anyway which is better ? Mark explains it in the below video..

Thank you for your support Galloper48 & baldrick2dogs, In fact once you start using RAW, and start to see the difference, there is no second thought of going back... And the Raw +jpg option is a bonus and is helpful like Balds pointed out. I also find it convenient to satisfy my desperate friends who ask for copies once I have completed a shoot.
Well said Galloper!
I've always used RAW & recently started using the RAW+Small JPG option on my 5D.
RAW gives so much more latitude when it comes to post processing, and the small jpegs are great to quickly get shots onto Facebook and the like.
not everybody is in the PHOTO goup and some of the "main forum users" could find this info "useful"
Regards!!
then why post in the Main Forum ?
