Qatar receives season’s first rains, much more to follow soon!
People who were desperately waiting for the season’s first rains to fall heaved a huge sigh of relief on Wednesday when the skies opened up.
And there should be more reasons to cheer today as it is once again expected to be quite a wet day. The Qatar Met department has forecast thundershowers, accompanied b y strong winds, in different parts of the country, reported Gulf Times.
People going out to sea should also be careful as the waters are expected to be rough and choppy. The meteorological department has forecast heavy showers during the weekend.
Steff Gaulter, a weather expert at Al Jazeera English, had tweeted that the country was expected to see heavy rains during the weekend.
On Thursday, the wind speeds may go up to 25 knots during thundershowers. Some places are also expected to experience dense fog early in the mornings.
In a late evening tweet yesterday, the weather office said rain was expected to ‘resume early on Thursday in northern Qatar, extending gradually over most areas later and becoming thundery at times.’
The sea level may rise to 10ft in some places during thundershowers. It is advisable to avoid sea activities at least until Saturday.
