Qatar Charity attempts to break world record
By next week, Qatar hopes to break the Guinness World Record for the most clothes gathered for charity in 24 hours.
The current record is 12.5 tons, achieved in Hanoi, Vietnam last year. Qatar Charity aims to smash that by collecting 14 tons (in two 20-foot containers) of clothes between 5pm Saturday April 26th and 5pm Sunday April 27th.
It plans to send what is collected to the Philippines, the Central African Republic and Yemen.
The collection drive starts at 5 pm at the Aspire Zone, where the charity will work with Qatar-based youth group, Mission20, to collect, process and pack clothes donated into containers.
Organizers ask that the clothes be washed and preferably ironed.
Qatar Living would also like to urge its members to donate to this cause.
Take the next few days to clear out your wardrobes and have anything you wish to donate delivered to the team working in Aspire Zone by 5pm on Sunday 27th April.
Let's help Qatar Charity and Mission20 reach their goal!
