Onam Celebration by Indian Meetup Friends (IMF)

The Indian Meetup Family community in Qatar celebrated the popular festival Onam on Friday with traditional fervour including Onam Sadhya @ Mom's Kitchen situated in old airport road. The members of the community hailing from different parts of India came together as one to celebrate the festival of harvest which is very popular in Kerala.

Onam is celebrated in the Malayalam month Ching(ending of August and commencing of September) and celebrated in the memory of King Mahabali who once ruled the state and in whose regime it is said Kerala witnessed it's best time. Onam shows the blissful rule of King and freedom for those enjoyed under his rule.On the occasion of Onam, men wears traditional attire called Mundu and women wear traditional golden white sarees and decorates the house with Pookalam made of flowers and family and guest feast on traditional Sadhya.
