Salaam Everybody,
I will be flying soon to Qatar Inshallah if everyone thing goes well... My husband works in Qatar. He is working there since last 5 years.. Can anyone tell me how important is it to learn Arabic before coming there???
I think it is very important to learn Arabic, for many reasons, the most important reason is that you to benefit from reading the Quran and learning the teaching of it, learning Arabic is crucial, I think when you have issues with the government, or may be you start working, you could function freely, with out having to refer to a traslator

Speaking Arabic is not at all a big deal. If you have interest in speaking you can learn it real quick.
Been here in Qatar for as much time as your husband and though, not working with Qataris or for that matter Arabs but i have friends who are Arabs and i learned the language.
Generally, you dont need to know Arabic but if you do, it is fruitful!
Welcome to Qatar :)
Yes.. I m learning Arabic from a local tutor.. Its been just 3 days... Hope i learn soon ..
i honor LP's comment
It is not important, but it's a great gesture towards the Qataris. They will honor your efforts.
Since you are coming here soon, it is not possible that you can learn Arabic before coming here.
You don't need it to survive here, but it is a great advantage if you can learn it after you get here.
You can imagine how speaking (or reading) Arabic can generally be an advantage, but you'll survive with a decent command of English, so don't fret. It's pretty much a good mix of languages and nationalities over here, (with what i've seen for myself so far anyway) that English is spoken widely enough.
yes i m indian working in qatar, can speak and understand little bit arabic and u can join arabic learning institute if u wish so , owise its really not that important u can visit
