Next time if you get a job offer from UK, check if the company is listed in Tier 2 sponsors from UKBA or gov.co.uk website. You need Tier 2 general visa to work in UK if you are from outside European union.

Job Hunters can be easily tricked especially if you're longing to be in a new environment, in UK this is not new story there had been so many cases of job scams mostly done even by big company's staff who might have left the company some years ago, however you'll find the advert is genuine, but physically it's already closed, but the scammer will pursue you for Money especially when they notice you're interested they can call you continuously since they've your all contact details as you indicated in your CV or in Application, However it's now all over and no question of African, Asian ,American or European,@Kevin that's racism and insults generalizing a certain nationality, as I know many Good African Guys out there....be Careful when u state something in public...

chameleon, she quit the job and acquired one for QAR 9,000 without any deduction. Thank you for your honest concern.

OMG! Bad people! Why did the sister of your woman agree to that anyway? Is she stuck there now or what? Are they her sponsor? Well, we wouldn't be surprised as this this is Qatar anyway :(

By Wild Turkey• 9 Apr 2015 08:44

By the way, I am not inventing this. The sister of my woman got this job at QCB hired with QAR 7,000, of which MOMENTA kept QAR 2,000 every month.

By Wild Turkey• 9 Apr 2015 08:41
Wild Turkey

Yes, I know. MOMENTA is a criminal organization, but they still recruit for a government owned bank. Imagine.

By chameleon• 9 Apr 2015 08:39

@Wild Turkey - This is illegal. It is against Article 33 of the Qatar Labor Law.

No wonder that the OP is insecure. He lives in this part of the world.

The agency is called MOMENTA. And the government sanctions it. MOMENTA recruits expatriates for Qatar Central Bank.

By Wild Turkey• 9 Apr 2015 08:31

In some countries like Qatar, the agency keeps 30% of the monthly salary, not for a year, but for the duration of the contract.

By chameleon• 9 Apr 2015 08:29

@Wild Turkey - What is not correct is a person getting scammed by paying an agent a part of his salary when the standard and ethical practice is for the employer to pay the consultant a finder's fee for sourcing for a suitable candidate.

That's not correct. The MOMENTA agency in Qatar collects a monthly charge of QAR 2,000 from a secretary working for QAR 7,000 at Qatar Central Bank as long as she works there. This is official scam, but it is allowed in Qatar!!

By chameleon• 9 Apr 2015 08:13

One more thing, you don't pay the headhunters their commission. The employer pays them for sourcing you.

The next thing they will ask from you is money. It's a scam. A friend of mine had a similar experience and to verify she called the company in UK and there was no opening for that position.

UK recruiters do not get paid by the applicant. They get paid by the employer. This is a scam

Paying 60% of your first year salary seems unacceptable. However, as long as there is no money involve until you arrive in the UK is worth considering too. Take care.

shafi .. 60% of ur annual salary seems dodgy.. 60% of first months salary can make sense to me .. i would recommend not to make any payment until you are physically in the UK.

Also u dont need IELTS for job .. its not a university admission bro.

I would recommend to just provide them with the application form and see what they say. do not give them any financial details or card numbers until they issue u an offer and send u a visa. Even i can go to the internet and make a website and advertise a job on it.. that doesnt prove authenticity.

Im a British national and have worked in UK for 5 years. Still working in Doha with a british company

Dear folks, thank you for the information, however this offer came through a consultancy http://www.endeavourrecruitment.com/ they demanded 60% s of salary as a commission for one year if i get placed, later i got call and one written test by a guy proclaimed as Ass Hr manager of one company ,there after i went through the company website , it seems genuine and this opening i can see in their "career" as well, for sure i never pay single money before i get the the job, but my concerns and doubt is , will the exploit me if in case i need to join with them, ??? because british job market is really strange for me.

It is more than likely a fraud. They will hook you and then ask for a little money to process the visa and paperwork - be wary

The British Embassy can tell you exactly what the requirements for a work visa in the UK are. Call them or visit their website.
