Tall: I did play with contrast in post production. But obviously, I didn't succeed much, hehe. But well, i'm still a student and this student still has a long way to go.
Drac: Beautiful prose.
Simpleman: That's one of the best compliments I've received on this site so far. Thank you.
Edifis: You don't need to be an expert to appreciate a good picture. You said what you felt and in my book, that's the perfect description of an art lover. Keep it up.
Happy happy: lady, you're making me blush. Please, I ain't as good as you say I might be.
I'll be taking a little break now. I'll be gone a while. But thanks for all the good things you've all said about the pictures. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Cheerio.
Amazing pictures, Greeker. I can't rate them because my knowledge about the subject is limited but still I can feel the goodness! For sure your pics are superb.....
its another attempt (like the posting about Fishermarket) by Greeker to showcase Qatar's unseen or unnoticed life which one call as simple life, daily chores, etc. i appreciate the attitude to notice that many avoid in buzy life.
Yeah, taking a shot into the sun like that is always hard to expose correctly. Did you try stepping down the exposure on the camera? You can also buy ND filters which reduce the amount of light getting into the camera, which helps for shots like this.
Also, did you play with the contrast in post-processing?
Rotation to the left, certainly. I was kneeling on the ground and bowing almost waist level to get the shot at grass level. Naturally, the cam was tilted. I straightened it a bit, but now that you say it, I see that it could do with a lil more rotation. will work on that as soon as i get the chance.
Overexposure, well, i was blinking AT the sun as that was the only way to get the sunlight on the grass. I increased the shutterspeed all the way up, but apparently it wasn't enough.
But thanks for the critique anyway. i asked for it and would love to see more of it. That's the only way i'll grow. Appreciate the feedback.
Good shot fella. Nice contrast between nature and man-made stuff. One little bit of construction criticism (you asked for it, so you'll get it :) - it looks like it could do with a tiny amount of rotation to the left. And perhaps it's a little bit over-exposed.
Me a pro? No chance. I've just started a little over a month a ago. What you see is not my talent alone. The light, in most cases, were perfect and I had a decent camera with me at the time.
But anyways, maybe you could give my flickr page a check? I don't wish to post the link here again, that would be self promotion. I've told about it here in this thread once, as a reply to Novita. Could you please please check it out?
Post more! My husband loves photography too (just a hobby) and i love all his mediocre shots! smiles...but you must be a pro! I will show him my desktop bearing your Golden Slanting Sun Rays.
Wonderingearthlinginqatar: That's a big name... but you've got an even bigger heart. Thanks for the appreciation.
Rizks: Those pictures were taken from near Al Khor. You can find those types of grass in Doha. Initially, it was a big surprise for me too. But now that I've really started looking, I'm finding more of it more often.
Lovespread: Thank you, I liked that particular picture too. It looks natural because the two people in the picture did not know that they were being photographed. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Blu_rose: Thank you so much.
SpikenButchsMom: Thank you ma'am. I've been lazy and havent added a few pics to the 'Planet Doha' folder. Now that you've given me further push with your encouraging words, that's exactly what I'm gonna do now. Once again, thank you.
I am posting my pics as and when I take them. Maybe not all of them, but maybe you can visit my flickr page for that. I apologise for the shameless plug, but here it is.

I mostly take pics which is not always related to sports. But I'll keep posting for sure. Also, i post pics in QL only those which i feel is relevant to the forum, ie sights around Qatar.
But once again, thanks for the comment. In a way, Novi, you inspired me to get back into photography. It was something which I'd given up long a go. Seeing you with your SLR camera made me want one too. And i bought one. So i should be thanking you for giving me that final push.

HNS2002: I just pray to god that with time, my photographer’s eye for detail just grow sharper. There’s so much to explore and so little time. :-)
Novita: You’re the official QL photographer. Coming from you, that’s high praise indeed. Thank you, my friend.
Ajnabi0707: Thank you so much for the comment. The sun’s rays catching the grass was simply brilliant.
Might have been better getting a little closer or cropping the cars out. The grass is an interesting study. I can see you are really getting into photography.
