Cinema's - this is a vent !

I went to the movies today with my family and it was going well. It was a full house, so I figured people would annoy me with their popcorn popping and nachos cracking during their enjoyment of eating. But no it was something else this time.

Why do people talk while the movie is playing?

Why do people answer the phone, ringer on btw, and say 'OH IM IN THE CINEMA!'?

Why do they constantly check their stupid phones for calls and annoy us with the light?

Why do they go through pictures DURING the movie? Bored, LEAVE!

Why? I can never understand it. And when you try to shush them or ask them to quit whatever distractions they say that they paid for the movie as well! WTH! Why pay 35+ for a movie that you aren't even interested in watching?

And Ok the movie is in English and Arabic sub titles, why irritate us with that questions? Oh, is that her mom? What did she say? Did she mean she's afraid? Are you watching the movie, HELLO!

This has nothing to do with an age, gender or race - but for crying out loud!

Ok, my venting is done. Comments? Experiences? Solutions?

Had the same experience. Group of teens occupied a whole row near the front and just chatted and texted all through the film :O(

I like that idea. I think I'll include it into my new house plan. Thx for the reminder. I know a few people that have home theatres and it really is like a theatre. Not cheap though.

Sugar, the exact reason why home theatres are getting a big applause..No bed bugs, no smells, no strangers all around, no mobiles, and eat, sleep, or watch the movie in your own time... :-)

In India, the affluent are adding a previously unheard of thing called "media room cum home theater"...in the plan for their home..

So true. I didn't realize it was a new movie out. I thought it was out last week, and why did I go to the Mall anyway? I hardly ever go to the movies, its my sisters fault. Next time I'll choose when to attend a movie, or to be honest, what's wrong with watching them online?

I remember the Landmark Cinema we went to a while back and all the seats were wet. When it was about time for it to dry up, it smelled horrible. Got a refund and left.

Have you had experiences wherein the cinema smells foul?

Sugar Qtr, once you realize that you're not alone in this world the circumstances will change gradually... :)

Never, never go on the first week the movie is shown.

If weekend, go on the first hour.

Then you can watch the movie in peace.

1. never go in a weekend, except for the afternoon/before 6pm shows

2. Book seats at the balcony level in Villagio Cinema, Quieter movie goers

3. Stay away of Mall cinema, it's heavily populated with kids & their nannies and the sound system is really bad

And we still make a joke out of "City center movie theatre" asking us to pay for a "special" discount ticket available for the special need kids... We are not the kind who rarely asks for any special consideration in any matter...So we dont mind.. But whose image suffers? Especially with 90% of the seats empty anyway...

nothing is perfect in this life but we have to neglect these small things so we can reach "an imaginary" perfection in doing things

theaters should have ear phones like they have in planes and provide side reflectors on demand to block distractions :)
