Changes in QATAR

Only two days passed,Wait for surprising declarations from government( let us pray for that).But for wC there is a long way to go.Still the announcement has to come in que from the higher authorities,let be ready to exclaim ourself.........( Let us have positive hope)

Just winning bid is not everything. they have better hallenges now on.

Being an ARAB country they will not compromise their tradition, rather they need to build somethings which will not affect much either side.

I am sure they will have better plan to tackle these concerns.

I heard that #3 with regard to pork is being seriously considered. Maybe just wishful thinking . . .

My wish list:

1) scrapping of exit permit

2) more FM radio stations

3) more branches of QDC (includes selling of pork)

4) improve the current state of Sealine road

5) more live bands in hotels

I would predict the end of the sponsorship system, better working conditions for labourers, and probably fewer Western and Western-trainded professional expats in key professional positions as the native populations learns to take on these roles themselves and development slows to a more manageable pace. The days of massive compounds of Western oilmen will be over. Conduct laws will likely become more liberal, although they will remain conservative. Either there will be a native backlash against these liberalizing changes, in which case so much for the World Cup, or Qataris will learn to embrace, or at least live with, the changes.

I also hope for its sake Qatar creates more rational laws about citizenship. Perhaps this will be spurred on by the hunt for talented players for the national team. Otherwise the rate of growth coupled with the decline in Qatari fertility rates will see Qataris become something of a defunct minority aristocracy rather than a truly ruling elite--i.e. Qatar will need more Qataris to run things.

Qatar has to bring new projects, which will attract new people, needs to increase population heavily. There is long way to go till 2022. Enough time and lots of money in hand huge reserves of Gas and oil!!!.

100% correct.... with so much freedom and tourism to enjoy most of the free living country players will love to stay in dubai and jus come to qatar one day before their match.. it will be fun for them to enjoy huge skycrappers...metro rail and burj dubai(khalifa)

Emirates mall, Abu dhabi and ferrari world and too many other things and may be many many more to come....and lets see how qatar competes with it... i hope they take it serious....

And DUBAI is just an hour away from DOHA through flight..I am sure DUBAI has indirectly got a big tourism BOOST...

Dubai gonna be benefited a lot when it comes to Tourism. FIFA Award to Qatar, will lift Debt-ed Dubai from ground. Qatar has enough time to build up in Tourism too.

2022 FIFA event is a great opportunity for Qatri government to project Qatar as an investment hub to European & American companies.

Life will be definitely changed. More jobs will be on the way. Rents and goods prices will rocket to sky.

Govt has recently demolished sofitel area for Doha land. Entire Musherib may be next on the list. Thats unfair to the residents. Why dont they do development in al khor or other cities where no one will get hurt i dont understand.

Infact i've faced the similar problem sometimes ago while dealing with my known relatives about the exact location of QATAR on world map.....

Everyone are concerned of RENT HIKES which i am sure will take place sooner or later like how we had witnessed during ASIAD...

Regarding CHANGES in QATAR, i can't think anything else than the increase in TOURISM...

Let HIS HIGHNESS to think upon the changes to be done in DOHA and we will come to know for sure in future...

No.1 is that it will spare me from telling everybody where IS Qatar? My own father cant remember it ( he still thinks i work in dubai for last 2 years. Lol...

No.2 may be.. qatar will you know,, open up to western life:-)

Anyways its still 2010!

Salaries will definately rise by 2020-2022... it is a normal cycle..

Qatar now has great challenges to deliver to the world... Knowing the seriousness of the bidding process, I expect the government to spare no effort...

As of now, Qatar's threat are the economies of other countries... they need to be stable at those times.

Also, Instead of people having a cynical view to this event, let us hope that things turn out for the better for everyone- The people of Qatar, expats and tourists alike... 'Hope' being the key word!

Looking at the Dubai model, I'm unsure most of the prospected positive outcome would be gained. Some of the advantages may be:

- Abolish inhumanitic laws.

- Internal reform (Education and Qatarization)

- More jobs for locals and expats.

- More investments in the region.

- Market Muslim Arabs image to the world.

- Bridge between East and West.

- Preserve identity and learn to co-exist (risk alarm).

Tourism will increase....visas could b easily got ..meaning you could easily call any one ona a visit visa...more of developmet...in short more of glamour thats what i guess...but first yes i think salaries would increase it will be gud for the ppl....until inflation doesnot occur..and prices dont go high
