All about Sports in Qatar!

By WhoMe

Hey folks!

As Qatar promotes it's sports scene as one of the best in the world, being a centre for sports, I thought it might be a good idea that we share the possibilities keeping the body in a good shape. What sports do you do? In which club? How often?

I can't imagine that everyone sits in front of the TV after work or is out for a coffe every night, so please share information amongst all! May be someone always wanted to do the sport you are doing and didn't know about the offer here in Qatar!

Thanks!

Only a healthy body can host a healthy mind! No conclusions on body shape of some memers please! ;)

every Friday me and my friends gather up and play in a park in south khalifa, it's coordinates on google earth are 86.36.65.150, it's quite good

Hi I just moved to Qatar this month and would love to get back on the water. I windsurf at home and have just started learning to kitesurf although i've only managed a few body drags so far. Are there any rental places here? or is importing kit the only option? Also are there any other girls windsurfing out there?

They used to have pick-up basketball games at the American School. Don't know if it's still going on because husband hasn't gone in awhile.

I am a huge fan of moto sports although i didnt venture into it for the lack of facilities, how abt it in Doha? Is the losail Circuit available for hire during free days for the expats?

It is realy interesting but it is not a easy thing to play football&basketball in Doha.

Especially we have played basketball regularly at Ritz Carlton but their PR Responsible or anyone like this , informed us that there was a re-construction at the area..So we havent played..

Also , again we met the same problem whıle playing football at a special area near Madına Khalıfa..They want from us a letter from the olympıc commıttee..really so funny..

What a sportive city is this???

If you know somewhere else , that we can play football & basketball..pls advice me..

Also we can join all organizations about sport.

Good luck !

You want to keep the bowling in mind for beginning of april and send cjp and me a message?

I would do it normally, but I am into fieldhockey organizing a lot and I am pretty sure I forget about it, which would be a pity!

As far as I am concerned I can't commit to anything right now. My work schedule is all messed up. I think the beginning part of May might work. I am all for an outing. I just need some advance notice.

C'mon, we can organize it ourselves, that's what this forum was made for! Say a date and time and we'll meet and ask who wants to join us!

Bowling is still fun without the booze. Just not as much fun. LOL If they had a bar it would be expensive anyway, so it's just as well that they don't. I would be up for a bowling outing sometime in the future. If any other QL people were.

Next QL gathering could be at a bowling alley and going for a drink afterwards, I like it too and would love to play it from time to time!

But don't know anyone who plays volleyball. Bowling places are far from where we live and my hubby don't really like this game so no one to play with! My family loves swimming but I'm not into it. So I just keep myself busy meeting girlfriends!

Just keep dancing, it will do you good!

I am playing fieldhockey indoors and outdoors with some guys 2 times a week, because it's my passion and I can't stand wihtout it. If I could make it my profession, I would without any hesitating. I love this sport! It is a very technical and fast sport with a fascination about the movements and the precision, the game is played at a high speed. Unfortunately there is no club right now in Doha, but I am sure there will be in the future. So far it's all a word of mouth thing, but we have some teams here in Doha playing for fun!
