Why does...

in Gulf region, employees are being paid according to their nationality and not by their position?..I doubt it in other countries esp. western.

We know the FACT that all expatriates are spending same currency in this country? Qatari Riyals... and all of us deserves to live whether in luxurious or obnoxious in this country.

Just asking...coz until now I don't understand.

and never seen one but not sure, but more on racism...

Though I know the situation you've all mentioned is for clerical and private sectors of Qatar... and I know that of course...

How's a rare situation like this... this is my first time to see this in my 7 yrs. in Gulf...

An Asian Manager earns less than Western Subordinates in one of the MInistry here in Qatar, how's that...is it usual? Resign? he did it many times... but you know if you hold a very complicated position it's not that easy...

Should I change my forum title?

No it's not a mortal sin to ask but as you have been a member for well over one year and having over 6,000 points I thought you would have already read the numerous threads and the various arguments relating to the topic.

Is it mortal sin to ask?

Well if you are fed up with this topic...then why you still bother to answer?

I don't understand these people. They signed up for a job on a certain amount of money when they came and if they think it's disgusting someone earns more for doing the same job they should resign and tell their employer they are going home.

Moaning on QL will not change the world.

Dweller, you got in there before me :o(

Roughly a local is paid 40% up his based salary against other employee as this is deemed a previlege being a national and most of all, willing to work. Other arabs are known to be given higher allowance bases. A westerners on the other hand gets a high up pay based on the assumption of their technical contribution, expertise, knowledge transfer and thus productivity in that particular industry.

Higher cost of living back home and unfavourable exchange rates mean that they have to be paid higher to make it an attractive proposition for them.
