Welcome to Doha and Qatar Airways

Hi everyone,

I have been surfing through this site for quite a couple of months and would like to pop in to say special thanks to everyone here and to those who created the site for all our expatriates. I found this sub-forum extremely helpful for overseas employees who are trying to figure out how high the cost of living in Doha and whether they are capable to survive here with the salary offered from their employer.

And most importantly, through this website, I have met many wonderfully kind and helpful people. I have just landed in Doha for a few days during which I got some kind-hearted assistance from so many friends, especially from a Vietnamese British lad (I guess you know who). Special thanks to all.

Now it's my turn to say welcome aboard to those who are going to come to Doha to join us as an expatriate family, welcome those who will be part of Qatar Airways (that is my company) and others. I believe that many of you also need help in finding accomodation in Doha, where to get nice local food and what to do when you miss home, etc. Those are small things but if we share the experience together, they will become easy tasks.

I am currently also looking for some accomodation. I look for a room for myself in any flat near the workplace, i.e. Qatar Airways Tower. It is quite hard to just rent a room and I believe that there are many professionals who are also in the same situation like mine. Why don't we join as a team and together find a flat? All people are welcome (I'm not racist at all :)). However, for the convenience of commuting to work, it would be best if you are from Qatar Airways. Otherwise, we still can choose the location that matches our routes to work.

I hope to receive constructive responses from everyone.

Together we build this HOME.

Best regards,

Sondin

hey Bro, thanks for all your help these days. I think I can find a flat soon.

Just now I talked to Tobi and it is very likely that we can find a brand-new and nice appartment (like yours ).

Everybody, our team has 2 persons now, waiting for at least 1 more person to rent a 3 bedroom flat, very brand-new and fully furnished. Anyone interested can contact me or Tobi. Thank you.

It's great to meet a fellow Vietnamese here in Qatar!

I Hope you find suitable accomodation soon!

Staying at the Ramada can be quite expensive!

QR provides accommodation for some categories only: cabin crew, mechanical or engineer staff and some higher management level under family status. I am a bachelor and I get only accommodation allowance. I have to sort out the space for myself. That applies to all bachelors that I know.
