Upset with salary package

I was reading the forums here in Qatar Living regarding salary offers and quite upset to know that my salary now is not competitive, i guess. I am a civil engineer working for almost 10 years in my country with work experience in only one line of engineering. I accepted my work offer here in Qatar with a consulting firm since it is in line with my field of experience thinking it was almost tripled my salary in my country only to find out now from the forums that the QR 10,000 salary package was too low. I also have found out that cad operators are receiving a higher salary than designers like me in the company. Is requesting for a salary increase good even though I am still three months old in the company?

How are you gLecs? Hope the kid is very fine. Hope you're not bored staying at home? Heheheh!

you should have done research first before accepting the offer. comparing your salary with others will not do you good but envy. it will not make you happy. try to work hard and if you already have enough experience in your current company then you can sit with your boss and discuss it nicely with him. perhaps you can also wait for the annual increment.

The salary comparison research should had been done before you received the offer. Not all company can afford to pay high salary.

As a new employee it is really not the time to make noise about your salary package, your bos will take what you want is only money.

I dont think your current company will agree to add alot than they are giving now, they must have a standard to follow.

Its depend on you what you want to do.

yourself with the others regarding salary. It will de-focused your attention to your job responsibilities and it will not be healthy for you! Finished you contract and re-negotiate!

is this your first time to work as an ofw? if yes, then maybe that's the reason why they offered you that salary package...

you are already considered lucky to get that salary!

you will still encounter the same situation wherein another person received higher than you. Be contented with what you have and stay focus with your work. But if you are ready for any rejection, then go ahead, make thier day!

If your salary is much lower than other designers in your office with similar experience and qualifications, it is worth pointing out to your managers (although they already know it).

But like the others, I would wait till you prove your worth..

Before I came here I recieved 2 offers from different companies; one is triple the other.

You have to strive for the best but don't ruin your life by comparing to others.

However, some package enquiries on QL are really annoying.

Salary depends on company and you should not compare to others as it would affect you.

Am sure when you signed your contract, you are more than happy to accept the salary package and would even be what you asked that was given.

The company that took in a graduate engineer for that much is most likely very stingy. They WILL NOT give you a multiple increase no matter what you prove. My advice do keep working hard, get some value from your experience there, try to learn and start looking for jobs in other countries of the region or elsewhere by shpwing your credentials. In the meantime save up some money if you can, dont get your family here ...

Has the CAD operator been in that job for many years? Maybe he started on 5000 and has worked his way to that salary by hard graft and dedication.

As you said, you have tripled your salary. be grateful for what you have.

No harm is asking, but I would wait until you prove yourself as a valuable addition to the company.

Wouldn't recommend it...not right now, not while you're still pretty fresh at the company, and definitely not with all the CVs and job applications flooding the offices of Qatari companies...Best of luck there man

You still tripled you salary right? Yeah paps is right work your way through it, you will get there, and stop comparing yourself with that of others, that attitude will not benefit you in any good way.

To soon to ask for a raise. You should checked the market before accepting the offer.Anyway all is not lost, prove yourself and they will notice your performance and reward you accordingly. If they are a consulting firm they should be professional to do so.
