salary increase
please help. i need clarification regarding this matter...
i have a friend who will finish her two year contract in Qatar. since it is still recession, she is planning to renew her contract. the question is, is she entitled for an increase? because theres a talk that the company is not offering even a one riyal increase and their salary is really low. in what part in the qatar labor laws can we find the specific rule with regards to that?

A company can only decide whether to increase the salary or not...Labour law has nothing to do with that..
Unless or otherwise expressly mentioned in the employment contract, an increase in salary is not mandatory for a company. The Labor laws in Qatar does not cover any policies regarding an increase in salary or allowances in any manner.
You could however ask your friend to include such a clause into his/her contract since its due renewal. However, with the current state of the market, I highly doubt the likelihood of it being included.

unless she gets a new contract, or the company raise her salary.
apart from that, she either continue her contract on same terms or resign and leave.
