QR is really a bad employer. I would never ever recommend some one to work for it. They hired me for a position in Commercial Deptt. and once I got there to work they started pulling back the benefits in the name of *Policy Change*. First they took Allianz Health Insurance and told me that under new policy I and my family will be covered under Govt. Health Card which is of course not of that good quality health care.

Secondly, when I was negotiating the position they told me that you will be given a "new" and "fully furnished" 2 bed accomodation. But when I got there they showed me a "10 years old newly acquired" accomodation instead of "newly constructed" one. Similarly thier definition of furnishing is quite different from a general understanding of a fully furnished accomodation. As there is a housing crisis in Doha so you not be lucky to get an acceptable accomodation from QR without a loud shout or fight with QR housing staff. Otherwise they will put you in hotel for 5-6 weeks and start showing you the Apts from the worst available and once 6th week get close they try to force either take the one they have showed otherwise get out(BTW-The housing allowance they gave me was not even enough for renting a studio)

I dont know why QR hired some one from USA with a Masters Degree in Computer Science along with 8 years of RM experience for 7 world class airlines while it can not take good care her/him. Employees are human capital of an organization. Similar to aircrafts they should also be treated as vauable asset of the comany and treated respectfully in terms of thier needs specially hosuing/accomodation, health care, work environment etc. And I will consider a Zero Star Airline. After 5 months

of adventure I gave up and quit. I suffered heavy loss in terms of time, money, excitement & enthausiasm as well as quality of life. Now I am back to my home and try to do a very fresh start. So please dont get in this trap otherwise cost is very high.

My husband has been offered a job with QR which is paying a very good salary. Our only concern is that I have read and heard so many bad things about this airline. Can anyone tell me just how bad is QR to work for. I have heard horror stories about the CEO that he hires and fires as the mood takes him. I would not be willing to move if this is the case. Or is it just the company is growing so quickly that it can not keep up with the demand. Please any advise would be help us make up our minds.

Hi,

I'm a 25 year old aviation graduate from Singapore and I have 3 years of aviation experience with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

I have just received a call from Qatar Airways for an all expense paid interview in Qatar. I was wondering anyone help me with what kind of salary expectations I should have.

The job position that that are interviewing me for is in the Commercial department.

Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is the amount (QAR 50,000 or a li'l more) I think the Captains are paid here .

Dude, if you're applying for a Grade 8 manager, that would be like a total package of about QAR 25,000 - 30,000 or sumthing, depends on your negotiating skills and how bad they want you.

Grade 9 is also Manager on a higher scale and Grade 10 is Senior Manager.

There is no offer yet but what can be a realistic package that I can negotiate ?

Kids schooling - Will they require any minimum age before they can consider the allowance? My kids are 5 & 2 yrs

Thanks Colt45

Is QR offering you that salary, or do you wanna ask them for that much?

As far as family allowance goes, depending on your grade, you will get 75% or 100% rebate on schooling for the kinds upto a certain amount. Besides, you get Basic, Housing, Transport, Utilities.

It is safe for your wife to travel around, it ain't like KSA where women have to cover up.

I'm sure KSA licence will require a mere formality to transfer it.

Good Luck!
