can be misleading.

Originally definite contract staff received no ESB or other bonus. They were paid the salary and were provided with housing.........end of story. Don't know how it's changed

Hi

I was in Dubai few weeks ago, and now in Dubai every one is complaining about the rent. i found out that rents in Dubai are skyrocketing too and in reality they are the same as Doha. So not Only residents in Doha are suffering from the high rent but residents of Dubai too

So i guess you can comopare it to Dubai; but you have to expect to pay 5-10% extra on food and other stuff

Dear Rajnaik,

Being here for a year and half, I can tell you very confidentially, Dubai job is much better for the following points:

• 4 bed room good company maintained house

• direct hire indefinite term job

• Saving 10,000 dirham/month

In Qatar:

• Accomodation-10500 for Doha {which means you have to search and find a suitable 2 bedroom and not 4 as in Dubai, and this 2 bedroom will be in a very public and rare place just to save 2000 Rials from the accommodation, regardless of the headache of searching and negotiating with the landlord or the broker, paying the very expensive bills of electricity and water, and maintaining your flat}. And if you success doing the above for this year it will be harder next year and so on, as the accommodation in Qatar getting crazy year after year.

• The contract is just for 3 years which implies some thoughts of instability in case of termination after those 3 years.

• The accommodation allowance is offered for indefinite contract and disposable over the first 4 years, you have to ask about this point.

• Your saving is very good M’a shaa Allah (means Allah bless you and your saving), and I doubt you can make alike here in Qatar as prices of everything is getting higher.

Finally:

If you decide to come to Qatar, contact me to apply in your job in Dubai. :)

Regards,

You may find that the 40,000 furniture allowance is only for staff on indefinite contract. Check this out with QP.

my husband is also a QP engineer who works offshore for approximatly the same offer you have ,so according to my own experience i'm telling u thats a very good offer.......

FIRST: we have the same accomodation as u (10500) which we already save 2000 from it....as we took a super deluxe 2B/R semi furnished flat....and u must know that there is FURNITURE ALLOWANCE of 40,000QR which is pretty enough and also u can save from it.

SECOND: u will only pay your monthly house needs and maintenance...i mean food and grocery ,also your entertaintment.

i dont know how many kids u have but if u have 2 kids ,so your monthly budjet for this item will be around (4000 to 6000) QR, if u live in a moderate lifestyle.

THIRD: about your questions....

a)yes ,i think this job is very worth and u will save more than dubai.

b)yes ,salary is negotiable.

c)i dont know what grade is my husband...but i will try to ask him.

d)they dont negotiate rents moreover i know that company accomodation in meisaeed is not finished yet..they still work on it.

and anyway if u work in doha then meisaeed will be very far from you,but trust my word 10500QR is very good to live in a luxury flat here.

WISH I HELPED U ,AND HOPE U TAKE THE RIGHT DECISION ......GOOD LUCK

Raj,

Doha is expensive place you need to be very much cautious while taking decision to move here. Comapny Offer is attractive but, i am not sure if you will be able to save as much as you are making over there.it all depends on your living style.

The other important factor to consider is soaring house rents here, if accomodation is not provided by the comapny here, you may have to pay not less than 7000QAR, per month rent of suitable flat.

and other you can calculate your self that how much monthly you spent on...but keep a factor of 10-15% extra cost. because of high inflation in Qatar.

Good Luck.
