Hi All,

I got an offer from a private telecom operator of $120,000 per annum. This offer has following features.

1. This annual package include House and transportation.
2. Child education allowance is not part of annual package.
3. The annual package does not include the yearly performance bonus, which is 2 times the monthly basic.
4. There is fixed bonus given after 2 years of service which is 4 times the monthly basic. This is not part of annual package.
5. Medical Insurance.

Kindly advice on the offer and is there any other allowance I should ask for.

Thanks.

If you have less than 15 years of work experience, the job offers seems excellent; you should seriously consider taking it. If you have more than 15 years of experience, you may need to negotiate more but anyways it seems a very good offer.

You didnt specify your personal situation, i.e. how many kids of school-going age, your nationality, whether you are married, single or divorced, etc. salary is also dictated by your personal circumstances to certain extent. Cheers

Certain things are non negotiable. However certain things that may be negotiated I would consider.

If there is only one thing that I could negotiate apart from the usual ex. Salary etc, would be the NOC. The majority of employers don't sign the release papers of former employees. One needs to wait 2 years to even re enter. Say what you will of this system, I would have that in my contract. If I quit, get terminated or complete my contract. My NOC release will be given the day of my termination of employment. I would have that.

Yeah I saw school fees were not included in his offer, so was just wondering if he did actually have kids, and if so, how many..... something to consider in his budget

If you have just 2 or 3 kids than it's fine, and it's a quite comfortable offer.

Accommodation and education tends to be on the higher side in Doha. So you can probably expect to spend 28-30% of your salary on a decent accommodation. Cars are fine and so are rest of the things. I'd negotiate a slightly higher package. Eg.

1. Being a telecom company, negotiate for telephone, internet and TV to be free. That will save you around 800 to 1000 per month. Else, ask for a 1500 allowance per month

2. Negotiate that your annual fare allowance should be on business class. You can fly economy and save for a holiday every year.

3. Ask for a furnishing allowance (maybe a fixed amount or reimbursable on actuals subject to a limit). That will save you a lot of setting up cost.

Best of luck.
